Beverly, Look for information on the union army's march on/to Selma. Several residents of Bibb Co. and Randolph, AL describe the activities of the Union soldiers in Bibb Co. on their way to Selma in their claims to the Southern Claims Commission. Just a few who had claims are: Latham, Cornelius, Jane, and John; Rev. Isaac M. Hicks, Jesse W. Mahan, L.T. McGuire, Nathaniel Moreland, Thomas E. Potts, H.B. Ray, Estate of John Smith, Jesse Smitherman, Estate of James A. Jones, Palmer A. Kendrick, Maria Dean, Emeline Dexter. Find a copy of the book, "Southern Loyalists" by Gary B. Mills. This is an Index to these claims which are in the National Archives. I believe the Southern Claims Commission Claims are available at www.footnote.com (for a fee), and can be found on microfilm and fiche as several large libraries (Clayton Library, Houston, TX).
