Nelda, I checked, and your John Smith's estate was a barred claim. This meant for whatever reason it was denied/barred from consideration. Usually, it meant it wasn't submitted in time. The disallowed claims give the most genealogical information. What are you hoping to find re your John Smith? Another lady wrote me this morning, and said this was on Ancestry.Com, which I have. She sent me what it said about my Ancestor, which was very little. I have searched the Ancestry. Com & so for, not found where she found it. I do appreciate you taking time to send this info to me. Use www.worldcat.org to do a search for Southern Loyalists, limit search to book. There is a place for you to put in your zip code. It will indicate who has the book and how far from your zip code. Remember: The claimant as well as the witnesses were asked 80 questions by the Southern Claim Commissioners. Example: What is your name, how old are you, where do you live, how long have you lived there, are you naturalized, if so, produce your nat. papers if you can. I got the list of questions from the Natl. Archives.
