Joyce, unless all of us looking for a connection with those Bibb Co. Smiths have been badly mistaken, *one* Andrew David Smith (I assume that's who you mean) was not descended from Archibald. My Andrew's father was Thomas Smith who married Mary Vernon. Andrew m. Joanna Caffee, they are my gt. grandparents. Of course, there may have been another Andrew who descended from Archibald but I'm not familiar with that line. There were a number of Smiths in the county and many of us on the list tried to "match" them several years ago. The Alabama Archives has the Alabama loose records on microfilm if you are close enough to make a trip to Montgomery. Also, the Alabama Genealogical Society http://algensoc.org/ is putting an all-name index of the county loose records on the web site. Be patient as not all counties had an index done (Autauga didn't) and I and some others will have to go to the Archives and make the index from the microfilm. Have you checked the Bibb list archives at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/ALBIBB/ ? You can also browse the archives by last name by using "Search" at the top right of the archives page. Also, have you checked the web page for Bibb at http://www.rootsweb.com/~albibb/ ? And are your Hortons from Alabama, specifically Etowah, Blount, and Jefferson counties?
