Alabama, my ancestor, is buried at the City Cemetery at Palestine, Anderson Co., Tx. She is on an early census at Alto, Cherokee Co, Tx with a daughter, Martha J. Brown Height. Martha is widowed. Martha married again to my g.g.grandfather, William Lewis Colman and lived in Palestine, Anderson Co., Tx. Martha did have a child named Minnie Height but must have died early. Martha and William had three children. James (my gt.grandfather), Francis, and Hurley L. Colman. City records showed that William bought a burial plot for his mother-in-law, Susan Brown. I know that other children of Susan and John Brown had moved from Alabama to Texas.
