    3. Evelyn I agree that the cookbook is interesting and a worthy cause and I encourage anyone who has relatives in Chilton or who want to form and association in another place to preserve and restore local cemeteries to take a look at the website: http://www.chiltoncemeteries.org/ (Registration at the site is free.) Katherine and her husband, Jeff, have been the driving force behind this association since it was formed just over a year ago. Sales from this cookbook will go a long way towards providing funds for the work they do. I encourage everyone who can to order a cookbook/join the association. Another another note, the Chilton County courthouse has never burned. Chilton wasn't formed until 1868 after the Civil War. There was a small fire in the early 1900's but most, if not all, of the records were saved. BTW, I am pretty sure we have discussed MOORE's in Chilton County in the Chilton Genealogy Group @ Yahoo. I know we have discussed Obediah Moore's line. You are welcome to join our group and search our message archives, files, photos, etc. It is, of course, free. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/chilton/ Melissa ________________________________ Date: Sat, 25 Apr 2009 23:28:23 -0400 From: "Evelyn" <edshimek@cox.net> Subject: [ALBIBB] Chilton County Cemetery Group and their cookbook I'm grateful to whoever sent this to me and it really does look interesting. The website is about the cemeteries and the cook book. I know that I was told our Moores came from Chilton county and the reason we couldn't document a lot of it was because that courthouse was burned during the civil war. Placing an advance order not only gets you one of these fantastic cookbooks but also helps us pay for the first cookbook run. We *really* need your help on this. There are 150 recipes, most with a note attached that tells you either something about the history of the recipe, it's origin, or what Chilton County related person originally made it for their family. We've shuffled through our family's favorite recipes and pulled out the gems, there is also a microwave cooking area for quick and easy cooking. It also includes 32 pages of cooking hints and tips, cooking terms, ingredient substitutions, pages on the best seasonings for meats, a generalized cooking chart, calorie counts, and even pages on napkin folding and table settings. Wonderful for the new Bride and Groom or young cook as well. This is a fundraising project that can help us raise quite a bit of money for our general fund, which goes directly to our cemetery work. We ask that you please help and support us on this fundraiser by placing your advance order for a cookbook as soon as possible. Remember they'll make great gifts too and cookbooks last forever. We can not do the work we do without funds. Please help, we want to get these ordered in time to sell at the Peach Jam at the end of June so time is short. http://www.chiltoncemeteries.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=47 That page has a downloadable pdf order form if you wish to pay by check. If you wish to pay by credit card just click the appropriate button that you'll see on that page. Thank you! Kat
