I'm going to first of all start with my great grandmother. Her name was Ida May Wallace. She was born 25 May 1886 in Alabama. I believe that she was born in Bibb county. She was the Eldest of her sibblings and the only one born in Alabama. the rest of them were born in Arkansas. I believe that her parents William Thomas "Tom" Wallace and Annie "Dora" Litton were probably married in 1885-1886, again in Bibb County. In the 1860 census: {WALLACE} WEST SIDE CAHABA RIVER I find William and his family living in the WEST SIDE CAHABA RIVER, Bibb, alabama. His father William is age 30, born about 1830 in Alabama. His mother Mary, age 28 born about 1832 in alabama. His brother John R. , age 7, born about 1853 in Alabama. His brother William age 6, born about 1854 in Alabama. His brother James H. age 2, born about 1858 in Alabama. And finally him Danay (suppose to be Tommy) R., age 1 born about 1859 in alabama. In the 1870 Census: {WALLACE} SCOTTSVILLE His father is listed as "John" Wallace age 68 born in Alabama. His wife Mary is age 41 born in Alabama. His brother (John) Robert is age 21. His brother James is 19. His brother Monroe is 17. His brother Henry is 15, and Thomas is 11. His sister Emily is 9. His brother John is 7. His brother Arthur is 4. and finally his sister Ann is 1. In the 1880 Census: {WALLACE} SIX MILE His father is deceased. Mary is age 50, and states that she is from Alabama, and that her father came from South Carolina and her mother was from Alabama. Tomie, is age 21. His sister Emeley is 19. His brother Johney is 18. His SISTER Marthey (Martha?) is 14. (I think that martha was the intended name for "Arthur" above in the 1870 census. You know census takers and the mistakes that have been found). Annie, age 11, and Henry age 25. In the 1900 Census: {WALLACE} SIX MILE (Mary) Elizabeth Wallace is age 68, and living with her son "Walter" (Henry?) age 45, and HIS family. His wife Ruth age 30 born in Al about 1869. Son Jake age 10 born about 1889 in Alabama. Daughter May age 8 born about 1891. Lizzie, daughter age 6 born about 1893 in alabama. Clara age 6, born about 1894 Alabama. And finally Dewey, age 1 born about 1899 in alabama. (on the same census, there is another group of Wallaces who I believe to be related) Early Wallace, age 43 born in alabama. His wife Eliza age 32, His daughter Rosa age 11. Son Ervan age 9 born in Alabama. Mamie his daughter age 6 born in alabama. Paton, son age 4 born in alabama. and finally a son named Lawson age 5 months born in alabama. in the 1910 Census: {WALLACE} SIX MILE I find out that "Walter" (Henry?) is John Walter. He is listed with his wife Ruth and children. Mary Elizabeth is not there, so I think that she probably was passed away by the 1910 census. Now onto the Litten/Litton side of the family: in the 1870 Census: (LITTON) SCOTTSVILLE Anna was born about 1863, age 7 and born in alabama. Her father was listed as Mat Litton age 34, about 1834 born in North Carolina. Her mother was Emma (Lowery) age 33, about 1835 born in Tenn. Son John age 11 born about 1859 in alabama. Daughter mary age 8, born about 1862 in alabama. Charles age 3, born about 1867 in Alabama. and (Butler?) a daughter born in 1869, age 1 in Alabama. in the 1880 Census: (Litton) SCOTTSVILLE Mat is now listed as Martin C. Litten, age 45, born in North Carolina about 1835. His wife Emmitta (Lowery) is age 39, born about 1841 in Tenn. Their children: John T., age 20 born about 1860 in alabama. Mary C. age 18, born about 1862 in Alabama. *Annie d. (the D is for Dora) age 15, born in alabama. Carles (carl or charles?) age 12, born about 1868 in alabama. Rutha L. age 9 born about 1871 in alabama. Martha B. age 7 born about 1873 in alabama. Sarah A. age 6, born about 1874 in alabama. Dovie C. (daughter) age 4, born about 1876 in Alabama. Emma m. age 2, born about 1878 in Alabama. and listed with them is Emmitta's mother :Mary Ann Lowery, age 73, born about 1807 in Georgia. Martin Litton married Emma Lowery on 11 May 1859 in bibb county Al. in the 1900 Census: (LITTON) HALLMAN Emma R. Litton is age 59, from Tenn. Her father was from Tenn and her mother from GA. She was born Mar of 1841. She is now Widowed. Mother of 10 children of which only 9 are living. Her daughter Martha v. lives with her age 27, single born about jul. 1872 in alabama. Martin C. her son age 19, born in Dec. of 1889. And Emma P. age 4 (grand daughter) born Jan. 1896 in alabama. in the 1910 Census: (LITTON) Precinct 4, District 5, Bibb, AL Emma Litton is age 66 from Al. born about 1844. She is living with her son M.C (Martin c. Jr.) who is age 28, born about 1882 in Al. His wife Sarah age 24 of Al. their son John age 4, born about 1906 in Al. Their son Westley age 1, born about 1909 in al. Sampson Lowery, age 68 born about 1842 in Alabama. His father was born in virginia and mother in Georgia. This is Emma's brother so M.C's uncle. Pearl Litten, age 13, born about 1897 in alabama, listed as a niece to M.C. in the 1920 Census: (LITTON) JAMES, BIBB, AL Emma Litton age 78 born about 1842 Al. her father Tenn, her mother Ga. is a Widow living with her son M.C. who is age 38, born about 1882 in al. His wife Sarah age 34 from alabama. Their son John age 14. Son Wesley age 10, Lula, daughter age 8, Jeanie daughter age 6 and Eula daughter age 10 months.
