Author: eddiebob Surnames: SMITH, WILSON, HALL, MAHAN, THOMAS Classification: lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.alabama.counties.bibb/3824/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for John SMITH, listed as one of the settlers that moved from the Cumberland River Valley area of PA or TN in the above history. John may be the father or grampa of my GGgramma, Susana Rutha SMITH. Rutha was born 30 April 1840 in TN, GA, AL, MS, or TX depending on which census or court filing you are using. She married Elijah Thomas WILSON, born 3 February 1839. She died 6 June 1900 in Beckham County, OK. Elijah is the grandson of John MAHAN and John WILSON in the history listed above. I have not been able to find this history, except on the MAHAN geneaologies on Ancestry.com. Rutha is a ward of the Lavaca County Court of Estates filings. These filings appoint Malona (HALL) and James T WILSON as Rutha's guardians. Malona and James are Elijah's aunt and uncle. Malona's parents Berriman and Margaret HALL are on the 1830 Greene census with two daughters born between 1825 and 1830. One of the daughters is Malona. Malona's sister may have married John SMITH or John SMITH's son, John. In the filings, Rutha' parents are named as "John SMITH and wife, deceased of Miss" Any help finding out more info on this John SMITH and his family would be helpful.
