    2. Joyce, you can go to the Bibb Co. web site and look under MILITARY. You'll find a transcription of the widow's pension application by Elizabeth Redd Smith, widow of Andrew Jackson Smith who died during the Civil War. You can also go to the Bibb Co. board at RootsWeb and run a search for REDD. You'll find a transcription of a deed from Josiah Redd to his daughter Elizabeth REDD SMITH. Eli Smith was a brother of Andrew Jackson Smith. Both were sons of Archibald B. Smith and Sarah Reach. You'll find some information on the REACH family on the Bibb Co. web site. The Sarah Smith listed in the household of Eli Smith on the census was the daughter of Eli and his wife Nancy REDD REACH. Sarah Jane Smith married Early HUBBARD in 1874. You'll find Elizabeth Redd Smith and her children (Archie, Jackson, James, and Sallie) listed on the 1870 census in the household of Josiah REDD (Bibb Co., Kingdom Beat, Scottsville P.O., p. 227B). On the 1880 census Elizabeth SMITH is listed as head of ! household (Scottsville, Bibb Co, p. 249b). Children listed were Archer and Sarah E. The courthouse is normally closed on State and Federal Holidays. I think the hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
