Connie, thanks for your rambling . . . and for the remembrance of Herman - we old timers still miss him and Pat Black-Kling, who also shared a wealth of information on Bibb places and families and was the first list administrator until her untimely death a few years ago. I would also recommend, as I have done many times previously, that any new researcher on the Bibb list go to the RootsWeb "archives" and search them. Hopefully most of the subjects listed are pertinent to the content. I would think that Hardy CLEMENTS must be mentioned in some of the older postings - don't remember reading about the HINTON and MONTGOMERY names but since I was tracking the Caffee/Smith and related families I wouldn't have noticed. ARCHIVES: Great tool for research as well as checking for activity on the list ~ http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/ALBIBB You can do a specific search or browse the ARCHIVES for postings made since September 1997. Search the list periodically to see if previous postings pertain to your current research. You may see a name or subject that had no meaning 2 years ago but now provides a clue or answer due to what you have since learned about your family names and lines. And don't forget the ever expanding US GENWEB for Bibb at http://www.rootsweb.com/~albibb/ . It also has an impressive amount of history and genealogy about Bibb County with links to surrounding counties. I gave you all that was mentioned about the Hinton families in the Liberty Church and Haysop books. If I was you, I would try the cemetery records of Bibb and Tuscaloosa counties. There is a book by a Mr. McCord that has the cemeteries of Bibb County. I got a lot of information from that book. For some reason I am partial to cemetery books. I guess because it has birth and death dates. My husband has relatives from Randolph County, Alabama, and they have all their cemeteries online. That to me, is just a wealth of information. Tuscaloosa County has a lot of cemeteries, and it would be a tremendous help if they were all online. The book by Mr. McCord is wonderful. I broke down and bought that one, the same summer I purchased the books by Charles Boyd. Between the four books, I gained much needed insight into Bibb County. The late Herman Belcher, who was a mainstay of Bibb County Internet geneology, provided so much to me. He was such a wonderful man and had so much information he was willing to share. Historical information suffered a tremendous loss with his death. Anyway, I have rambled to long. > > > Connie Parnell-Beverly
I can't believe I for got to mention Pat. She was so helpful. They were both such wonderful people. There was no one like them on any list I have ever been associated with. Their deaths were such a loss for us all.
