My maternal gt. grandparents were ANDREW DAVID SMITH, b. 30 June 1832 in Bledsoe Co., Tenn. and died 7 Feb. 1921 in West Blocton, Bibb Co., Ala., and JOANNA ELIZABETH CAFFEE (CALFEE), b. 12 Oct. 1837 at the Ben Caffee Place in Tuscaloosa Co. and died 20 Aug. 1905 in Scottsville, Bibb Co. A.D. Smith was the son of THOMAS SMITH and MARY C. VERNON. Joanna was the daughter of SAMUEL KING PRICE CALFEE and ELIZABETH P. VANCE. The written family information by a daughter of A.D. and Joanna is that THOMAS, b. 1803 (McCord's Cemetery Book) was from Shenandoah, Va. and MARY, 11 Feb 1803 - 18 Sept 1889 (grave marker in Vernon Cemetery, Bibb Co.), was from Rockingham Co., N.C. I have no other information on them. A.D. Smith raised his family in Scottsville, was in the Confederate Army 44th Ala. Regiment, Co. H, farmed and was a general merchant in Blocton, moving from Scottsville after the death of Joanna.
