Jacque, Have any of your neighbors been "hit"? Considering where you live, I'm inclined to think someone(s) were watching your house? Don't forget to check the numbers on any unused checks. A friend of ours had a box of checks on the kitchen table. It seemed to be untouched, until bank called about a month later. The thief had taken four check from one of the pads of unused checks. You might contact the 3 major credit bureaus and have a fraud alert put on your credit file. For any new credit, the company/business would have to contact you directly. Be sure to watch your mail. If you don't receive mail you think you should be getting, the thief may have put in a change of address for you. Just so very irritating. I don't expect to ever see anything that was taken. What hurt the most was that the few pieces of my Mother's jewelry that I had were stolen too. Mother died in March. I do have backups so for now my data is not lost. I did lose some recent photos. Until I can get things fixed and a new computer, I'm having to use a dial-up system and an old laptop that they apparently decided wasn't worth the trouble. We are browsing all pawn shops in hopes of finding the guns, jewelry, and computer, but I don't really expect to. We have a friend who is helping us make repairs. There's a special place in hell for people who destroy cemeteries and take away the feeling of security and safety of others. Have a happy and safe holiday season. Now back to genealogy -- that's what has kept me half-way sane for the best 5 years. I would like to encourage all of you to consider participating in a DNA project. Maybe if enough of us to do, we'll be able to find some of those lost ancestors.
