This seminar, titled "The Grass Is Always Greener" The Movement Of Our Southern Ancestors, is being presented by educator, genealogist, historian, nationally known author and lecturer, Lloyd DeWitt Bockstruck. Bockstruck has been with the Dallas Texas Library since 1973 and currently serves as the supervisor of the Genealogy Section. He is also as Lifestyle columnist for the Dallas Morning News and writes about Genealogy. He was born in Illinois and graduated from Greenville College in 1967 and also attended Southern Illinois University. In 1994 he was named Outstanding Alumnus of the Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research. He received the Filby Prize in 1999 and in 2003 received the Northwest Texas Library Systems Lifetime Achievement Award. He holds memberships in many societies such as The Jamestowne Society, The Order of Founders and Patriots of America, The Order of Indian Wars in the United States, General Societies of the War of 1812 and The Revolutionary War, and many more. Bockstruck will offer lectures on the following topics: Settlement Patters and Principles of Migration The French and Spanish Experience Federal Land Sales The South in the 19th Century The seminar will begin with refreshments at 8:30 a.m. in the Brock Forum Auditorium of the Dwight Beeson Business Building and conclude at 4:00 p.m. Genealogical book, service, and gift vendors will be on hand making their goods and services available to seminar participants.
