I do not know if any of this large family ever lived in Jones Co, GA, or not, but the father of this clan (Richard Eli Pounds) lived in Clarke Co, GA, and was the original land owner. He had land holdings in several places, he was murdered by a happenstance of "mistaken identity" and left a number of young children, our William was the oldest (b 1785) and thus the co-adm of the estate with his mother. Richard Eli Pounds was murdered in the very early 1800s. It took many years to settle the estate, Richard Eli Pounds died young and unexpectedly, and did not as yet have a will. This estate settlement, as well as guardianship of the younger children rocked on until the youngest was of age and/or married. Since William Pounds was co-Adm, he was involved with the land sale in Jones Co, GA, even though he had later moved to AL. Wm and his family (married children as well) moved to Chickasaw and old Choctaw Co, MS, from Bibb Co, AL where they had settled. Many members of this large Pounds family moved to AL. William Pounds and his children all moved just prior to 1840 to MS. Old Choctaw Co (became Sumner and then finally Webster Co, MS) was divided along with portions of Chickasw when Calhoun Co, MS was formed in 1852 and some of the family ended up being in all three of those counties.......even though they never "physically" moved.
