Ingrid J, keep in mind...when you say he was in Bibb county by 1816...it was still the Mississippi Territory...and then Alabama Territory before it was called Cahawba County...you just might find a record in Perry County, for instance. Depending on where his home was.That happened to me, and some of my folk's land, who lived in Bibb, turned into Chilton Co. Good Luck, Stella
