John, Since your Wm. Wesley Brown didn't die until 1932. Have you tried to obtain his death certificate? Did he or his wife have a Confederate Pension? You need supporting documentation to dates you have found (tombstone, obit). My own Mother's tombstone is incorrect. She didn't want my Dad to know she was older than he was! There may be information on your Brown's in Marion Lawrence's book on the Families of Bibb and Chilton Cos. Alabama. I know the Birmingham Public Library, Tuscaloosa P. Lib., Dallas Public Lib., and Clayton Library, Houston, TX has copies of Marion's book. There probably are other copies in other libraries and owned by individuals. You should check with the Brent-Centreville Public Library to see what they have in their family files on Brown and Latham. According to his tomb stone he was born in Bibb county Alabama 31 Aug 1842 died 15 Mar 1932 Sgt. Co. F 11th ALA C.S.A. He is buried in the Kosciusko City Cemetery in Attala County Mississippi. We know nothing of his parents or his siblings but a couple of days ago we found the information on the descendants of Cornelius Latham, Sr at http://alagenealogy.com/Patriarchs/Latham, Cornelius.htm If this information is correct John W Brown and Susan Latham must be the parents of William W Brown, its seems very unlikely that there could have been two William Wesley Browns born on the same day in Bibb County Alabama. However there seems to be a discrepancy with his marriages listed in the Cornelius Latham information and his marraiges listed in the attached Obit. With Brown being such a common name we though we might find information on William W Brown by looking for Latham family information. We would appreciate any help you can give us. By the way, do you know where your Williams family comes from? Mine were in Jackson County Georgia in the 1850s/60s. One Williams brother stayed in Hall County Georgia, one migrated to Texas and one (my line) migrated to Lafayette County Mississippi in the 1870's.
