    1. [ALBIBB] Welcome back on list!
    2. Hey Walter, I missed your posts, too! I am glad your cataract surgery went well. (guess that's what you had done?) I think, sometimes, these things hinge on the doctor, who performs the surgery, where did you have yours done? I am way past due...in having my left one done. Stella

    2. Cyndi, Thanks for the lookup offer. My Jesse Brown line lived in the Six Mile area. Do you see any Browns listed? I agree that if it is not too large an undertaking it would be wonderful to publish that information on the Bibb county website. John John K. 2. Cyndi, I stopped recently to read a historical marker, about a school that was on that site, this was on highway 25, at six mile creek. I did not make notes, however. But it is on the right going out toward Montevallo. I am sure, most all on list, who are in, or around Bibb county, know more about this school. Stella

    3. Cyndi, How many names are in the birth records? Are there any Moores or Lawrences or Hendersons or Lathams? Has anyone transcribed it into a typed document you could email? 1. [ALBIBB] ADAH ends Saturday services
    2. caroline
    3. STATE ARCHIVES ENDS SATURDAY HOURS, REDUCES SERVICES Due to mid-year budget reductions, the Alabama Department of Archives and History is reducing a variety of services, including being open on Saturdays. By March, the agency will have eleven fewer employees than it had a year ago, a 20 percent reduction in its staff. Five positions are being eliminated through attrition, and another six employees will be laid off effective January 31. Because four of the eliminated positions regularly worked on weekends, the Archives will discontinue Saturday hours effective February 1. "For Alabamians who work during the week, Saturdays are often the best time to visit the museum galleries with their families or to do family history research," director Ed Bridges said. "We regret the elimination of our Saturday hours and hope to restore them when the state's budget is in better condition." Before resorting to the reduction in force, the Archives eliminated spending on new books and microfilmed newspapers. It also suspended a multi-year project to catalog the agency's rare-book collection and discontinued the use of student workers from area colleges. The development of a management plan for the building's sophisticated environmental systems was indefinitely postponed. Some previously scheduled events for 2009 will be rescheduled or cancelled. Visit the Department's web site at www.archives.alabama.gov or call 334-242-4435 for information on upcoming events. The public forum on "Current Research in Alabama Archaeology," sponsored by the Alabama Historical Commission, will take place in the Archives building at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, as scheduled. The research room and museum galleries will not open, however. New hours for the Department's museum galleries will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The research room will be open Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free. Founded in 1901, the Alabama Department of Archives and History is the oldest state-sponsored archival agency in the nation. Its mission is to tell the story of the people of Alabama by preserving records and artifacts of historical value and promoting a better understanding of Alabama history. 3. Connie, All the info that I have is from an old Document. p 24 (9) (10) of James and Mary (Hill Foster. (10) Sophronia Lucinda Foster, A twin sister to (9)Hardy Appllewhite Foster, was first m to Jonathan Ryan. Children were Roxana, Johnnie, and one younger Dau. After Mr. Ryan's death she was m to Marshall Pearson. and there children were (a) James, (b) Hardy, (c) Laura, Sophronia (Foster) Pearson died in New Salem Taxas, and Mr. Pearson married again. Date's I'm not sour about but the Hardy A.Foster twin brother died 1864 in a Federal prison. Let me know if any thing fit's and I will dig in to my Haskell Co.TX book as I know some of this Pearson line ended up there. Would really like to know who Aunt Molly Ryan Wiggins was !!! Jim Foster Subject: Re: [ALBIBB] WILKERSON,PIERSON,RYAN,FOSTER > Hello Jim, > The information I have is that they were associated with both counties. My Pierson/Pearson family was found pretty much on the line between the two counties. In fact my grandmother Mary Eugenia Pearson actually married in Tuscaloosa County, and her father died in Tuscaloosa County while visiting a sister or daughter who lived in Tuscaloosa; so, they are tied to both counties. What Pierson do you have in Tuscaloosa County? I don't have the person you mentioned but that doesn't mean a whole lot, because I am not an expert.
