Bethel is about four mile south of Brent, Al on Al 5.
Does anyone know of a connection between the Hill family and Canterberry family? The Hill family interacted with the Canterberry on various deeds and were appraisers of the estate of Zachariah Canterberry in Bibb County. I read on another list, which is not confirmed that Enoch Hill married a Mary Ann Canterberry. This is from a post on the Rootsweb Canterbury mailing list. Post follows: > Does anyone have anymore information on the following family? She was 55 years old in the 1850 census. I do not know when her husband Samuel Canterberry was born. but I doubt that he was born in 1728 and died about 1840. Samuel did die sometimes between 1830 and 1840 in Lowndes County, AL. I believe that my ancestor Samuel Canterberry who died in Lowndes County, AL is connected to the Bibb County Canterberry family. That is why I am interested in the Hill family. Names mentioned in various deeds etc. are Robert Hill, James Hill, and Pleasant Hill. Warmest regards, Beth Gay, Auburn AL

Beth Thanks for posting this... researching this John Campbell has been on my "to do" list for quite some time. He is there because I would like to confirm/disprove whether he is the son of David and Charity Campbell... but my direct line keeps getting in the way and he keeps getting pushed further down the list. Were there any other names on the page you copied other than those listed below? Just for informational purposes for anyone interested, the wife listed as Mary Ann below was most likely Mary Ann Brown who he married on Jan 3 1839. I received the announcement of the reunion from Jeannette Austin's Lost Generation in GA. I am distantly connected to the Edwards/Hicks families through the marriage of my gg grandfather John Benjamin Vaughn, Jr., who married Priscilla Drew Edwards in Clarke Co., GA. in the 1820s. Also, I descend from Joseph Henderson who migrated from Madison Co., VA, to Elbert Co., GA. in late 1700s or early 1800s. My husband descends from William and Mary Henderson who were born in NC and settled in the Jasper/Newton counties (GA) area. His g grandfather was Richard Henderson who left GA and went to Walker Co., AL, and later (bef. 1880) moved to Monroe Co., MS. He married Nancy Perry, daughter of Wiley Perry, probably in Walker Co., AL. If I remember correctly, the marriages of the county were lost perhaps in a fire. I would be delighted if the two of us could be connected in some way. We will be on vacation during the time of the reunion but would like to keep in touch. Mary Jane Spivey Dublin, GA
