    3. Thanks Stella. Unfortunately I haven't traced my husband's line back to N.C. but the first names are certainly the same as his family, including Stephen (my husband), James and John; of course, all are very common names. I did not see "Ike" listed but there was a gt. uncle named Ike, born in Ala in the later 1800's. I've saved for my Horton files. 3. Nope Vicky, This is Ingrid Marshall. You have done some copying for me before. But since I have you online, were you able to find the estate folders for Walter C Duff and John H Duff? I can't remember what the other papers were that I asked you about. Also if there is a folder for LW or Lafayette W Wilson who died in about 1851 I would appreciate it's contents also. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: 82epp4 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.alabama.counties.bibb/3825/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Google Ad Sense is when a web site owner opens an account with Google to place advertisement on their web site. When a person clicks this advertisement, the web site owner gets an average commission of .45 cents. A web site that gets a lot of traffic, they can easily make $150,000 per month. There are message boards claiming to be informing the public about scams being done by companies or individuals. These web sites have individuals working for them for the sole purpose of targeting companies or individuals in order to generate traffic to the web site. This method is artificially generating traffic to the web site, this is FRAUD as outlined by Google. The higher the traffic, the higher the percentage of individuals that will click onto the Google advertisements. Additionally, Individuals post copy right information about a company on these types of web sites; this is against the policy of the Google Ad Sense program. If you believe that you are being targeted by individuals on a particular web site; simply click the Ads by Google in the bottom right hand corner of the advertisement on the web site. You will be taken to a Google page, click onto: Report a policy violation regarding the site or ads you just saw Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: chatterchit Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.alabama.counties.bibb/3823.3.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I don't have info on why anyone moved -- I'm not researching this family. I'm guessing that unless someone wrote their thoughts in a diary, it will be very difficult for you to discover WHY someone moved. Usually, though, the number one reason was economics -- folks found a place where they could make a living or where relatives could help them if necessary. Another factor could be government land grants. Sometimes local, state, or federal governments awarded free or cheap land in order to settle a particular area. Researching the occupations of specific Rodens and researching the local history MIGHT give you an answer (but, then again, might not :) ) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I appreciate your time! I had found the photos and traced Adora to Escambia and found a record where she had passed on. All the information you gave is a great help! Do you have any information on why some the Rodens and several other families left Northern Alabama in the 1890s. I've heard this information from two sources but no one wants to answer on the net. ONe person left me a phone number to call, but I get no answer when I call. Was there a scandal or something? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Do you have access to that? He's most likely the son. Then in 1940 and 1946 there's an Adora Roden (widow of Robt) in Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida, listed in the City Directories. Do you have access? Also, if you google "Adora Roden" you'll find a photo! (I'm guessing it's the same woman, since it's from Escambia.)
