Please correct me if need be, cuzins. It is *possible* that the records were microfilmed by the LDS team a few years ago and can be obtained thru your local LDS Family History Center or other repository that is approved for LDS microfilm in Dallas. Is there anyone on this list who lives in Bibb Co. and could do the look-up at the probate office? I do this often in Autauga Co. Also, you can try calling or writing the probate office in Centreville, although many clerks no longer have the time to pull individual records. Other suggestions? Hello List, Researchers need to pursue all extant records for the given as well as varient sp. of surnames. In the Gandrud (etal.) extractions of early Bibb Co marriages there is an entry stating one IRENE QUINN married one James Elbert HENRY. Research shows there were no less than three extant documents relative to this marriage (1) application for license (2) parental consent of the groom and (3) actual date marriage performed ("return"). ... in viewing only the 1 document (app. for license one might assume the given name of the bride as IRENE to be correct. However; in viewing the two additional records/addendums it becomes quite clear that the given name of the bride was JANE: in the __old handwriting__ a "capital J" was more often than not written __"above the line" as we today would write a "capital _"!". When requesting a copy of a marriage document from any state/county source I might suggest you include in your request copies of any related and attached documents. Charlotte, Will you mind to see if you have any of my Horn's and are Tucker's ? I certainly will appreciate it. I don't have any information about her alleged maiden name of Owens and the unusual middle name of Yucatan, yet on her gravestone in Port Arthur Texas, it says Candace Y. Drouet, she married a Frenchman named Amand Drouet somewhere between 1886 and 1890 and they moved to Tennessee, had twin boys, and still had my grandmother, and then they moved to Texas, lived there until Droue! > t deserted her in about 1904 and moved to Oklahoma. Drouet) and Candace's parents are listed as being born in England. Otherwise, I know zero about her background. The only family story grandmother (1886-1981) told me was about a woman (I don't remember who but could have been her mother's mother) was working in the fields on a farm and it began to hail and it killed her, before she could find cover. Could Candace's mother have been killed when Candace was small, and could Candace's father have been killed in the Civil War, or could both parents have been killed in the Civil War? I cannot find Candace Yucatan Owens in any census before she was married, and I have found no marriage records for her either. > > If you have any records to search for her name or any Owens in Bibb County during those years, I would appreciate it. My dad and I are most interested in information on Rebecca Thrasher Reach. She was my great grandmother and was at one time married to Dock Archie Reach, my great grandfather. They divorced and she pretty much disappeared after that. Her parents were John and Ruth (Cloud) Thrasher. Any help will be greatly appreciated. which mitchell's are you searching for
I descend from Israel (often erroneously transcribed as Isaac) THOMAS (b. abt. 1806/7, place unk.) and Mary SCOTT (b. abt 1812 in NC) 3rd. child and daughter of William and Sally SCOTT of Surry, NC. Israel THOMAS married Mary SCOTT in Bibb County, 8 Dec, 1831. This from the original marriage license. Transcriptions from this record incorrectly interpreted the handwriting and listed his name as "Isaac" THOMAS. Israel & Mary THOMAS, migrated to Shelby Co. AL, had eight children, and then migrated to Washington Co. Texas sometime between 1853 and 1860. I descend from Daniel T. THOMAS, their second son, born abt. 1835 in Shelby Co. AL. No records have been discovered of Israel and Mary SCOTT in Washington, Co. or Evergreen, Lee, Co. TX where the family lived after 1860. Israel THOMAS may not have left Alabama in the move to Texas, or if he did, he returned to AL to join the Confederate forces and fight in the Civil war. He enlisted as a private, Mar.24, 1862 at Shelby Springs, Shelby Co. AL when he was 54 yrs of age. After participating in several battles in which he was wounded, he was discharged due to disability, at Tullahoma, TN, Apr., 5, 1863. There is an 1880, Walker Co. AL census record of Israel THOMAS, head of Household, married to Hannah A. THOMAS, which list Israel's birthplace as AL, and his father birthplace as VA, and his mother birthplae as GA. This has not been verified. Any help in confirming, or providing additional information on the ancestors and descendants of Israel THOMAS and Mary SCOTT would be appreciated. Bill Thomas [email protected]
