My grandmother was a Pearson/Pierson. She was related to the Stewart, Steele, Miller, Reach, Majure, and Greer families of Bibb County; and all the connections to that area. I gave you all that was mentioned about the Hinton families in the Liberty Church and Haysop books. If I was you, I would try the cemetery records of Bibb and Tuscaloosa counties. There is a book by a Mr. McCord that has the cemeteries of Bibb County. I got a lot of information from that book. For some reason I am partial to cemetery books. I guess because it has birth and death dates. My husband has relatives from Randolph County, Alabama, and they have all their cemeteries online. That to me, is just a wealth of information. Tuscaloosa County has a lot of cemeteries, and it would be a tremendous help if they were all online. The book by Mr. McCord is wonderful. I broke down and bought that one, the same summer I purchased the books by Charles Boyd. Between the four books, I gained much needed insight into Bibb County. The late Herman Belcher, who was a mainstay of Bibb County Internet geneology, provided so much to me. He was such a wonderful man and had so much information he was willing to share. Historical information suffered a tremendous loss with his death. Anyway, I have rambled to long. Connie Parnell-BEverly "Ayers, B. J." <[email protected]> wrote: 01JAN07 MISS. They are not in the index, either. All of the books by Mr. Boyd are truly a wealth of information about this area; but, the Hinton family is not mentioned in this book, or so says the index. I have the book right next to me. That is not to say they were not in the area, but he did not mention them in this book. In the Haysop book, a Bertha Hinton is mentioned on p. 97--she is mentioned as being the wife of Loman Earnest Boyd, who is the son of Van Buren Boyd and Mignon Yeage--that is my interpretation of the paragraph. In the Liberty Church book, there is a John Hinton mentioned as being a member of the Sardis Church from 1819-1829. Maybe that will help you some. But as far as a whole chapter on the Hintons' I'm sorry but no. Connie Parnell-Beverly "Ayers, B. I think it was Jim Reed who brought a huge collection of books. Pat kept it organized. We had several "cuzins" from out of state. I think we got together 3 times and several folks met again, once or twice, at a restaurant near Centreville. This was when there was someone living in Bibb Co. to make arrangements for a place to meet, such as a park with a pavilion, etc. Much fun . . . 1. [ALBIBB] Local Books Of Interest Pertaining To Histories
    2. Connie, list, I am going to talk a little about this book, A HISTORY OF MULBERRY CHURCH 1818-1968 because people are familiar with 'mulberry creek' which this book says runs it's course some thirty miles before joining the flow of the Alabama River. and the small town of Stanton settled on the railroads.and on the main Elyton Road..... has the creek running right next to it too...and this church is on over from there.the book says the Mulberry settlement was on the upper reaches of Mulberry Creek,...but that was the two main roads traveled then, one called the Elyton Road (Elyton Al was county seat of Jefferson County then) and the other was called The Fort Jackson road going east to west..(.to Tuscaloosa)...the railroad came through there to Montgomery in 1852...then Old Maplesville started moving to the railroad, to what was called new Maplesville (the Depot). (remains today) lots of the community went to Mulberry Church. It lists 55 pastors. Says the church was settled before Al became a state...settled by people from Ga and Edgefield Co S.C. mostly.About the time the church was organized.., the Mulberry settlement was incorporated into the confines of a new county, created by the Alabama Territorial Legislature sitting at St Stephens, on Feb 7 1818.The name of the new county was Cahawba, and the temporary seat of Justice was at The Falls, later known as Centreville. It was one of the first counties to be created. The Alabama Territory became the State of Alabama on Dec 14th, 1819. It goes on to tell about Gov.Bibb and his fall from a horse in 1820, resulting in his death and the county being changed to Bibb in his honor that same year,...and for fifty glorious years this church was in Bibb county. until 1868 when it became Chilton. It was written by Ulysses H. Abrams and published by Times Printing Co Montevallo, Al. I purchased second printing in 1995. Gotta run, now. Stella

    3. Did Mr. Boyd write the book on Chilton County? I don't think I have any relatives from there, but you never know. Seems like I do remember the name Sharbutt being in Chilton County. Maybe that is why I don't have much information on them, because I don't know much about Chilton County. Connie Parnell-Beverly [email protected] wrote: Connie I am 'eavesdropping " on your answer to Evelyn.I just wanted to tell yo, I ordered the book today from Mr. Boyd. I have read it before, a long time ago.....I think at the Centreville Library.....maybe the Tuscaloosa Library. I too, like these kinds of books about an area. If names are thrown in...so much the better. Most of the names are familiar when you live in a community all your life. Thanks again for posting the addy for the book. He answered my email immediately. I plan to ask what the other books are, and if they are available, that you referred to.I have the book on Mulberry Church in Chilton...it is great. I got it at Chilton Co Library in Clanton.. I think it is better to have your own books. 3. Evelyn, there is an entire chapter on the Ward Family. It begins with John Edward Ward, JR. This man faught in the Revolutionary Ward, it ends with a Reverand Daniel Merril Ward, who was a minister at Haysop Church. That would mean he was mentioned in the Haysop book also. I am not computer literate enough to know how to get that to you, but surely there is a way. If you know make sme suggestions, and I will try to get it to you. 3. Hello, Yes I have all three books by Mr. Boyd about the area of Bibb and Tuscaloosa County which would be of concern to those around Duncanville, Haysop, Liberty Church and Bear Creek. It's a great list of smaller cemeteries in Tuscaloosa Co. and pertinent to Bibb Co. due to the proximity to Tuscaloosa. Many of the surnames of Bibb are listed in these cemeteries. Thanks, Charlotte ~ Caroline Horton, List Administrator ...........have you checked Chuck Gerdau's USGenWeb site? ... he has wonderful cemetery information. You can find this at http://www.rootsweb.com/~altuscal/ ........ and the Beasey Hendrix book "Old Cemeteries Found in Tuscaloosa County" and index is here http://www.rootsweb.com/~altuscal/cemetery/beaseyhendrixjr/ [Name index is provided] Beasey Hendrix, deceased, was vitally interested in preserving Tuscaloosa County history and made outstanding contributions from the Civil War era and in cemetery preservation in Tuscaloosa County.
