Veda died at an early age.Vida died years later. Vida later married Harvey Palmer & had 4 girls with him. My mother has never known her g.grandfathers name or ggrandmother on the Pool side of the family. I have initials off of a hand written census fromm 1900, & it isn"t easy at all to read clearly. I think the initials are G. W. Poole, married to a Mary, no last name. It list son as C. C. age 5, (Charles Corbett was born in 1894)& list a younger sister (born in 1897) as Cora. I have been blessed with a lady in the Hembre family, who has helped me get alot of information. But I am still looking for the names of Charles Corbetts' parents. They were in Ark., Tenn., for several years & in 1900 Corbett was in Indian territory, listed as single. Charles Corbet was in W.W. 1, & he was a white man married to an indian woman, before thier divorce. If there is anyone ! out there who knows this family, and can tell me the names I am looking for, please contact me at [email protected] Thank you.

    1. [ALBIBB] Mulberry Church Book,Ulyses H. Abrams
    2. "All the organizing members of Mulberry church are not known today, however, the following four names has been handed down within the community,as being members of the original twenty: Henry Greggs,James Davenport, Mrs. Patty Campbell and Joseph Williams. After reading the family glimpses contained in this history, the reader may satisfy himself as to the identity of some of the other twenty members."Immediately after the church was organized, the members constructed a church building, which was located several hundred yards westward from the present building. It was constructed from the only materials available at the time..It was a log building with split log benches.Stones gathered from the clearings were used to build a large fireplace for heating. It was covered with boards, said to be rived from short sections of logs and the floors were earthen. Most all these members were of the Baptist faith..some having been active in their former homelands....all belonging to the old school of Baptists, holding firmly at this time to the Primitive Baptist faith..There is a history of the church handed down within this community that the church was constituted with the guidance and prayers of a baptist minister, named Cockrell...but records were so scarce in the first few months of the church's history...this is not found as yet in th history of Mulberry.. The original minutes of the Cahawba Association of Baptist Churches show that William Harrod was the pastor for the years,1819-1823.The Cahawba Valley Baptist Church, also in Cahawba or Bibb county was organized in 1817, with Moses Crowson as it's first pastor. When other churches were organized in the area in 1818..he invited these churches to send messengers to his church, for the purpose of organizing a Baptist Association of Churches. Most of the churches responded, including Mulberry, and the meeting was set for Oct.2 1818. About noon on that date, the meeting got underway with pastor Crowson preaching the intro sermon, since the assembly of delegates had chosen him as moderator and Willis Davis as clerk. Moses Crowson chose as his sermon...the 32nd verse of the 12th chapter, of Luke. During these sessions of this organizational meeting, an association of these Baptist churches was formed called "The Cahawba Association of Baptist Churches" Here, the book sites the facets of the baptist belief at that time, and then it contains a long quotation from the pen of Hosa Holcombe concerning the creation of the Cahawba Association of Baptists Churches, mentioning ten churches...Mulberry, Bethel (Cahawba County) Enon, Ebenezer (Stanton) Bethel (Tuscaloosa County), Cahawba Valley, Union, Alabama, Salem and Canaan. The whole number of members, 259...and the ministers (from the minutes) were Wm. Callaway, Nathan Roberts,James Baines, and Moses Crowson. Chosen as licentiates: Henry Haggard,John Tubb,Thomas Kerb, and John Henry...with pastor Crowson and clerk Willis Davis. More later...Stella P.S. It is so interesting to note how many of these surnames were still in the community as I grew up close to Maplesville. The Greggs were still in Stanton, area...(dropped the s, although later on, the book mentions they left Mulberry for Shelby County) as well as the Harrods at Plantersville.(we pronounced it Herrod) Haggard at Maplesville, and Davis at Stanton.And...of course...WILLIAMS! I graduated with a beautiful Williams girl. I won't mention the year...~~gr~~

    2. Irma Roy
    3. Hi,. Going over the post by Jacque Otts on Jan 9, 2007, I have some additional information on the family of Joseph and Jane Williams in my files. Thomas W., the son of Joseph and Jane, married Susan Gentry on April 7, 1864 in Autauga Co., AL. She was born Jan. 17, 1846 and died Mar. 14, 1886, buried at Mulberry. Here is the information I have on Joseph, son of Joseph and Jane: Obit in the SOUTH WESTERN BAPTIST, issue of August 13, 1863 "Also died August 1st, 1862, in camps near Pollard, in the Montgomery and F. R. R. of Typhoid Fever, his brother, Joseph B. Williams of Bibb County, Alabama, aged nineteen years, eight months and five days. Enlisted for the war under Capt. A. B. Gardner of Dallas County, 20/29th Regiment, in November 1861, and was ordered to Pensacola. Not a member of any church. Leaves father, mother, brothers and sisters. A relative. From book, YOURS, MINE AND THEIRS, "Williams, Joseph B. was born 1842 and died 1 Aug 1862 and was buried at..... Obituary: None Sgt, Co D, 29th Ala. Inf. Died at Camp Jackson, Tenn. Never married. Ref: AoB page 164, HAAH, page 203." Don't know which is correct that he died at Camp Jackson, Tenn or that he died near Pollard as the obit states. Irma J. Roy

    3. That's great Stella! Without having time to check my notes, I believe I remember this Joseph Williams being represented in court by my John Williams, who I believe to be the father of my Elias M Williams. Elias father was listed as John Williams (no middle inital that anyone knows of) and Elias at age 17 was listed as a married farmer on the census, with John Williams 1799 Ky. listed on another farm almost next door. Johns household had a gap, where a 17 year old could fit in, so I'm guessing this is the correct John Williams, who seems to turn up in the 1816 census, an owner of several lands, a farmer, lawyer, politican, and an evangelist. I'm also thinking Joseph could be a cousin or brother of John. Just wish I had time to investigate. Any thoughts greatly appriciated! chuck >From: [email protected] >Reply-To: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: Re: [ALBIBB] Williams in Bibb, Chilton Counties, at >Mulberry Church. >Date: Mon, 8 Jan 2007 20:33:40 -0600 > >Chuck, it is not in the community with Scottsville. It is at the Isabella >School...between Maplesville and Clanton...but due north...The Bibb >County line used to go that far..in sort of a dip from West Blocton down >that far...you know...we discussed before, of Cox chapel, and where the >Brown Boldings lived, close to Randolph, being Bibb at one time? 2. Vhuck, list, I will get to it maybe, while I am recuperating from toe surgery I have this morning at 11....This book, however does not go back much, with details on folks, past the founding of this church, Mulberry. About time Alabama territory was named, then of course...made a state. It says on cover, 1818 -1868. then an addition for second printing, in 1995, which I have...See Ya...Stella
