    1. Re: [ALBIBB] ***HINTON- DAIRY FARM*
    2. Good morning, BA,I happen to be a list member because I have ancestors from Bibb County, so I will take out and tell you a little information. The property you speak of is in Tuscaloosa County. Thirty miles from Bibb County line...it is on the road to Greensbora, (in Greene County), but it is now in city limits of Tuscaloosa, right at Englewood School...at a place, known as TAYLORVILLE, Al. the Hinton Dairy farm was on highway 69 South...Old Greensbora Road. It was there until just a few years ago, but had stopped producing many years ago, as did all Tuscaloosa dairies. The land, now has been sold off for houses, developed as Hinton Place, on the new highway 69 So... The Hinton family log cabin, under a big Oak tree and the well is still there, right in the middle of these expensive homes, called Hinton Place. The original log home burned shortly after it was built, ...and another built right next to the spot. I wrote you last year about the newer, wood structure, Hinton home, on the hill on highway 69 South, built around 1865.'80. It was blown down, in the December tornado that went through Tuscaloosa down there a few years ago, and killed several people. One house still stands, on that hill to the left of the old homeplace, that was built out of logs for a first married son,or a farm laboror... I think, and later lived in by the family cook, or nanny. Too, a house on the adjacent side road that was to the railroad crossing on the river, (Maxwell Crossing) and to the Hinton farm land, barn, etc..stands today, has the original house built during WW2 for a daughter that married and he was away in the navy She married a Hamner. The house has been redone and is nice.A large house, and barn, built behind it for some of the family...has been torn down in recent years and is now Mobile Homes. I wish I had known you when I was there and the road to the Dairy was a private one...and we rode horses there. Now there is a four lane highway right through it (new 69)...and it is SO DIFFERENT! I could have made you pictures of the mile long road to the Dairy that had a fence all the way to it, that was covered with antigue roses! Beautiful sight,I always wondered if they brought them there from their homeland, and planted them. All of this has been scraped off to sell land! This place is in walking distance to Little Sandy Baptist Church, on the creek.(The original log church burned too and it was rebuilt out of wood) A new church next to it is open today. Big Sandy Baptist Church, is about two/three miles south on same highway.Gilgad Church is on Bear Creek Road, anout 5/6 miles to the East also in Tuscaloosa oounty. I came to Tuscaloosa in 1974, and we bought 11.8 acres of the Hinton land, that had been previously sold to Rev. Earnest White.I can make you a picture of the hill, where the house stood...(but all the very old cedars were blown down too).....and the one standing house on it if you like? Send me a private email with your snail mail.I wish some of the family would send you more history, with actual data. Lots of the Hinton family still lives here, and north of the city of Northport, at old Sipsey, is where the Hamners settled.there were some Hintons there too,I think it was called Hinton Corners or something like that. ...it was a corner of Greene County at one time. I have seen old historical markers there at an old church, to do with the early Hamners that founded it. I am sorry this is so long to the list, (but your message was gatewayed here).....when it is not in BIBB County, but I no longer have your address...just guessing at it. . Stella

Their first daughter, my ancestress Frances was born in North Carolina. The next (3) children born between 1840 and 1844 were born in Tennessee and the next child born in 1847 was born in Alabama as well as subsequent children. Susan died between 1850 and 1853 and Elijah married Christianna Simms, the mother of the James from the original post. There were (2) additional children as well from this marriage. Elijah died in 1872 at Bryce Hospital. 3. Here is the address for the ADAH home page: http://www.archives.state.al.us/ Go to "For Genealogists and Historians" and then to "Databases of Newspapers ..." If the local papers that others have listed cannot do lookups and send copies this database will give you all the newspapers and dates that are available from the Archives. You can email your request and obtain a copy for a small fee. Caroline, List Administrator

    2. This book is not indexed.I found one marriage for Hayes, so far in the book, 'Mulberry Church'...in telling about the new town of Maplesville...it says . "Anderson Hayes now owned and operated the Mill and Gin,once owned by Daniel Williams, Anderson Hayes married Nancy Foshee, daughter of William Foshee." . I can see there is a lot about the Foshee,(several brothers in business at Maplesville) Green Rasberry, Cockran, and Goodwin families. Stella

    2. More from Book on Mulberry Church: "Rev. Enoch Hayes left the Mulberry Community after the 1840 session and had become the pastor of the Baptist Church at Kingston, which was then the county seat of Autauga County. He had come into the early Mulberry settlement, either earlier than, or around 1820. The Tract book shows land was registered in his name during the year of 1820.His land and farm was in section 23 and 24, two or three miles east of Mulberry Church. At that time his family consisted of his wife Rebecca and several children. The county marriage records show that he performed many scores of marriage ceremonies. He sold his home and land in 1836 to Richard Graham for $2200 and left the community but returned before his final departure. They were the parents of many children. He died July 24 1853 and the following Memorial was written to honor his name. FROM THE SOUTHWESTERN BAPTIST August 19, 1853 'Died at his residence in Autauga County Sunday 24th ult.,Elder Enoch Hayes, an old and faithful minister of the Gospel, in the Baptist Church, leaving his aged wife, and many children to mourn the sad bereavement. His body lies in the grave, and his spirit has returned to the God who gave it" I don't have time right now to type the following two pages where earlier,on August 8,1853. in Autauga County the conference meeting from Harmony Church, the discussion was entirely about him, and a resolution was passed to preach his funeral at the next session of the Association ...all this was added to the minutes of the church. Hope this is somethingto go on...I don't think there is much about his sons...they must not have been in this Mulberry Church...but I will scant over the book for any mention... Stella

    2. Hi, you need to search for Enoch HAYES in Bibb Co. He was an active member of the Mulberry Church at Maplesville, (now at Isabella, Chilton Co) was it's pastor in 1828 till about 1840, if my memory serves me. ...His daughter Epsey married in 1828 to Elsha Whatley. You can order the book,"A History of Mulberry Church1818-1968" by Ulysis H. Abrams... from the Clanton Historical Library. I bought it while there one time. Hope it is Ok to mention where to find a book on here. Someone put the URL to Chilton Co recently, but I don't have it. I can look up in my nook for you. Stella
