I am researching William Haithcoat of Bedford Co Tn 1830-1850, then he moved to KY. So can anyone tie him to any of the Hathcock men in Bibb Co Al , he would have been born about 1810. He was 20 in the 1830 B C Tn census and married so possibly he was married in Bibb Co also. Like everyone else back then his name was spelled differently on the different documents. His mother was Mary Palmore from Buckingham Co VA. She was the daughter of Joseph Palmore of B C VA. Thanks, Jerry

Try contacting Mr. Henry Emfinger at the Aldrich Mining Museum. This museum deals mainly with the mining of the Aldrich area, but Mr. Emfinger is very knowledgable of the local history. Marvel is close to the Aldrich area. http://www.cityofmontevallo.com/Default.asp?ID=126&pg=Aldrich Coal Mine Museum The above link takes you to the website with information about the musuem. Also the Henley research center in the Archives at the Birmingham Library has a collection about mining. I found quite a bit of information there. The coal mining companies kept logs of accidents and deaths and Henley Lynn Research Center has some of this type information. Marvel is located in Bibb County. Try the Centreville Press. I forwarded the info about the book sale and should have added more than what was in the posting. The company is Heritage Publishing Consultants Inc - 854 Lake Mitchell Rd, Clanton, AL 35045-8450, United States Phone: 1-800-568-1611 The web site is http://www.heritagepublishing.net Telephone 1-800-568-1611 to order by credit card The owners are David and Alice Bice. Most info about the books is on the first page with the sidebars that go into more detail. Stella answered your question about what the books contain. On the sidebar choose "What is an HPC Heritage Book?" and this will further answer your question. The web site also lists the books and prices that were in the original email. There is a "last name" index in each book, usually no first name. Almost every county in Alabama has had a book published. Many libraries have the complete collection and it may be that an archives or large genealogy library in your area has these books. Even if there is not an article about your direct family you may be surprised at the information about collateral lines you can find, simply by checking the index for last names or - as I did with the Jefferson Co., Ala. book - read each page - I was amazed at the information contained about my mother-in-law's family lines which I would not have found otherwise. Also, there is great information about the county formation and places that your family may have been very familiar with during the time they were in the county. Hope this helps. I think there is a possibility that my GG Grandfather? James W. Hill (Richard)?born 1854 was adopted by a Gothard family along with his brother after his mother Elizabeth died.? I found a Richard Gothard in the 1880 census for Bibb married to Francis and that was my GG Grandmother's name.? He could have after that at some time gone back to the surname Hill. Anyone know the Gothard family information??? Diane
