    3. Nelda, I checked, and your John Smith's estate was a barred claim. This meant for whatever reason it was denied/barred from consideration. Usually, it meant it wasn't submitted in time. The disallowed claims give the most genealogical information. What are you hoping to find re your John Smith? 3. Nelda These claims are available online in two places - Ancestry.com and Footnote.com. At Ancestry.com, John Smith est. is under the "disallowed or barred" claims. It appears the heirs filed the claim indicated that John Smith was deceased, but they did not give a date as to when he died. Filing the claim were John Smith, Tempy Smith, Patsy Smith and Sukey? Smith (this last one is difficult to decipher). There are only 5 pages including covers. The claims was filed on two horses taken when Wilson came through. Hope this helps! I did look in Clayton Library, Houston, and said the book Southern Loyalists was out of print & one would have to sign up to try and see a copy?? Do you know of other Libraries who might have it? I live in Tarrant Co., TX. Any info appreciated, as I have been looking for info on this GGGGrandfather. Several residents of Bibb Co. and Randolph, AL describe the activities of the Union soldiers in Bibb Co. on their way to Selma in their claims to the Southern Claims Commission. Just a few who had claims are: Latham, Cornelius, Jane, and John; Rev. Isaac M. Hicks, Jesse W. Mahan, L.T. McGuire, Nathaniel Moreland, Thomas E. Potts, H.B. Ray, Estate of John Smith, Jesse Smitherman, Estate of James A. Jones, Palmer A. Kendrick, Maria Dean, Emeline Dexter. Find a copy of the book, "Southern Loyalists" by Gary B. Mills. This is an Index to these claims which are in the National Archives. I believe the Southern Claims Commission Claims are available at www.footnote.com (for a fee), and can be found on microfilm and fiche as several large libraries (Clayton Library, Houston, TX). Onan Taylor and Malissa in Dallas County in 1850 with William Taylor and Mary Harvey age 10 Sarah Jane Taylor and Benj F Perry in 1850 Perry County, Al. Census with Elizabeth J age 2, Mary Angeline age 6/12 and Louisa Harvey age 12 Do you have anything on the death of Sarah Jane Taylor Perry? She is not in the 1880 Census. Also, I have the date on Benjamin but not where he died.I assume in the Civil War It would not be unsual for a Oliver Perry Taylor to be in Bibb County. The County lines of Bibb, Perry, Dallas and Chilton are all so close, at one point it is called the Panhandle because they come togther. My great grandfather was raised in the Panhandle. He was Benjamin and Sarah's son. I lived in Selma, Dallas County all my life until two years ago when I married and moved to Petal, Ms. I loved going to the land where the Perry famiies lived. The old Perry Cemetery was just six miles from my house, but it was destroyed in the 1940s by a farmer. There was a head stone left with the name John Perry inscribed thrown against a fence. You will find very few Perry graves in the Cemeteries becsause they were all buried in the family Cemetery which was destroyed. This makes research VERY HARD... There are a lot of Taylor families in Selma, Al. Thanks, Mary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
