Daniel Albertson and Nathaniel his son have land transactions about 1800/1 in Catherine, Tioga Co., NY, which today is Catherine, Schuyler Co., NY. In the tax list Daniel and Nathaniel were neighbors of my ancestor John Chambers in Catherine during the 1801 tax enumeration. Nathaniel and his wife Elizabeth are members of the Benton Center Baptist Church in Yates Co., NY, in 1805. Nathaniel, Nathaniel, Jr., Parker, and William Albertson are in Ohio in 1830. I don't know what became of Daniel Albertson, Sr., unless he removed back to Minisink, NY, and died there near his son Daniel Albertson and his family. Daniel Albertson, Jr., Nathaniel's brother stayed in NY where he had a large family and is well documented including son-in-laws John Blizzard and Thomas Wheat. It seems that while in Catherine, NY, John Chambers and the Albertson's may have been connected with the logging or lumbering trade. Perhaps, Nathaniel Albertson married an Elizabeth Halstead whose father was Joseph Halstead of Mininsink, NY. Joseph Halstead is listed in the 1790 NY Census close to the Albertson families. I have also seen that Nathaniel married an Elizabeth Draper born about 1773. Nathaniel Albertson, Sr., the son of Daniel Albertson, Sr., was born about 1769 in New York. I understand that my ancestor John Chambers may have removed to Catherine, NY, with the Albertson's and is allied with the Albertson's in other ways, too. John Chambers' father was John Chambers, Sr., who seems to have lived in Montgomery, Ulster [now Orange] Co., NY, during the 1790 NY Census. The town's of Montgomery and Minisink are next to each other and are near or include Middletown, NY. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
