On the 1850 census Jacob Sr. was a jailor, and Jacob Jr. was listed as a sailor. On the 1860 census, Jacob Sr. was listed as a farmer. I am trying to trace the daughter, Frances Elisabeth or Elizabeth who was on the 1850 census as 11 years of age and doesn't appear with the family on the 1860 census. Her daughter, Emeline Nott appears on the 1860 census living with the family. Frances Elisabeth was married to a Walter Nott who was, I think, a ship captain or at least worked as a sailor. I cannot find Walter anywhere until Emeline Nott Lipsey's death record in Philly where he was listed as Walter Edward Nott, father. I don't know where Elisabeth is in 1860, but I found her on the 1880 census living with a James Palmer in Philly working as a seamstress. By 1880, Emeline was married to Wm. Lipsey and living in the Philly area. If you have access to the family burial in NJ and there is a Walter Nott buried there, please let me know. I cannot find any trace of him, nor can I find a marriage record for him and Elisabeth. Thank you for replying. I hope we can make some connection here. Is anyone working with George William Albertson from Long Island NY? He married Ann Margaret Dewar in 1916 in NY. The 1930 census shows them living in NY with 3 children: Margaret, William, and Joe. If this sounds familiar, I would love to hear from you. Early in my postings I abreviated Massachusetts as MS - that is wrong (MS is Mississippi) MA is Massachusetts. Others followed my lead and all are incorrect. Nicholas Albertson "the Swede" lived in / close to Scituate, MA. (pronounced like situation - old English spelling) He didn't much like people and lived at a distance except when Indians were an immediate danger. He baptisted his own children. Go to those websites on early history of this country for information. Most of my records are missing. Hope this corrects some early errors. Author: DyAlbertson Surnames: Bruton, Young, Albertson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.albertson/441/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Anyone with interested in Addington David BRUTON and Lucinda YOUNG(?) will probably be interested in Mary Thompson's research. I am putting a piece of it here for others who are having difficulty with this line as this may help someone. The following research is a study of the lives of Mathew Young and his wife Lucinda (surname unknown) and their four children, Sampson, Emeline J., Ester/Easter/Esther, and Hannah E. It also includes all known grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mathew Young was probably born between 1800 and 1815 in Tennessee. He does not appear on any census record. His existence is documented from records found in Morgan County, Tennessee. Lucinda Young was born in 1815, in Tennessee. Interestingly, this family seemed to go back and forth between Fentress and Morgan County. Lucinda and the children were listed in the 1840, 1850 and 1860 censuses of Fentress County, yet they never owned land in that county. Instead, they bought and sold land in nearby Morgan County. (Part of this land was situated in the portion of Morgan County that became Scott County.) Mathew and Lucinda were married before 1832. Their first child, Sampson Young, stated on his Union Army Pension Application that he was born on June 27, 1833, in Fentress County, TN. The next year Mathew and Lucinda were living in Morgan County where Mathew Young served on Jury Duty in 1834, 1835, 1836 and 1837. In the 1850 Census of Fentress County Tennessee, Lucinda Young was 35, Sampson 16, Emeline 14, Ester 12, Hannah 10. On November 17, 1854, Sampson Young, Emeline J. (Young) Duncan, Ester Young and Hannah E. Young sold two 50 acre tracts of land (100 acres) in Morgan County to James Sandusky. It was the same land on Black Wolf Creek that they had inherited from their father. (Scott Co. Deed Book A, p. 216) Although Lucinda was not named in the deed, she signed the document along with Sampson and Emeline. On the same day, November 17, 1854, Lucinda and the children bought 250 acres of land from James Sandusky. It was located "opposite where Lucinda Young now lives." (Morgan County, Original Deed Book M, p. 237-239.) Anyone working on this family? Dianna Albertson Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
