I've "rescued" an old MONTGOMERY Family Photograph which appears to be a family reunion photograph including Grandma and Grandpa MONTGOMERY (identified as L. H. MONTGOMERY and R. A. MONTGOMERY) along with Homer MONTGOMERY and C. May MONTGOMERY, and Will MONTGOMERY. Nellie N. sits on Homer's lap and others in the photograph are identified as: BURKNER Boy A. H. IRBY Rosy BURKNER Oscar BURKNER Mr. ROLAND Mrs. ROLAND SULLIVAN BURKNER Boy Francis BURKNER ALBERTSON Mrs. CLINGENPREL There is no studio of location listed, though the photograph appears to have been taken in the early 1900's with the people photographed ranging in age from toddler to 70's. There are 38 total people in the photograph. Based on limited research I was able to determine that this is a photograph of Robert Alexander MONTGOMERY and his wife Lavina Huffman MCCULLOUGH and their family who I've detailed as follows: Robert Alexander MONTGOMERY was b. 5 Sept 1845 in Canoe Ridge, PA to parents John Jehu MONTGOMERY (b. 15 Dec 1806 in Clarion, PA-d. 3 Oct 1874 in Rayne, PA) and Nancy Ann SPENCER (b. 27 Mar 1827 in Mahoning Township, Indiana Co., PA to parents Andrew SPENCER and Margaret PIERCE). Robert's father John Jehu had two additional children with his first wife including Nancy Ann b. 1834 and Elizabeth MONTGOMERY b. 1837. Robert married Lavina Huffman MCCULLOUGH (b. 14 Mar 1842 in Harrison, PA to parents David MCCULLOUGH Jr. and Frances HUFFMAN) on 18 Sept 1865 in Canoe Township, Indiana Co. Your timeline above certainly makes a lot more sense as some of the other dates just weren't possible. While I agree that looks good, I'm still having a problem finding Mary Sutton when coming from the Sutton side (possibly Gosby and then windowed young) and then tying it to Albert Albertson. The Sutton records that I came across show that Sarah (Tilden) Sutton and George Sutton did have quite a large family but I don't see a Mary. Do you have a birthdate for her? Some things show 1621 which doesn't tie into the timeline as Sarah (mother) wasn't born until 1613. Their children I found were 8 from 1637-1653. I did also find records that show the Mary that married Albert Albertson was Mary Gosbey, daughter of John Gosby and Mary Bell. And that Albert was her second marriage - but her first was to Albert Terhune. This suggests she was born a Gosbey and not, in fact, born a Sutton and the window of a Gosbey. Please let me know if you have found any other data that ties Albertson back to Sutton (or any other source). I also was unable to find much about Nicholas "the Swede". Thank you! Daniel Albertson and Nathaniel his son have land transactions about 1800/1 in Catherine, Tioga Co., NY, which today is Catherine, Schuyler Co., NY. In the tax list Daniel and Nathaniel were neighbors of my ancestor John Chambers in Catherine during the 1801 tax enumeration. Nathaniel and his wife Elizabeth are members of the Benton Center Baptist Church in Yates Co., NY, in 1805. Nathaniel, Nathaniel, Jr., Parker, and William Albertson are in Ohio in 1830. I don't know what became of Daniel Albertson, Sr., unless he removed back to Minisink, NY, and died there near his son Daniel Albertson and his family. Daniel Albertson, Jr., Nathaniel's brother stayed in NY where he had a large family and is well documented including son-in-laws John Blizzard and Thomas Wheat. It seems that while in Catherine, NY, John Chambers and the Albertson's may have been connected with the logging or lumbering trade. Perhaps, Nathaniel Albertson married an Elizabeth Halstead whose father was Joseph Halstead of Mininsink, NY. Joseph Halstead is listed in the 1790 NY Census close to the Albertson families. I have also seen that Nathaniel married an Elizabeth Draper born about 1773. Nathaniel Albertson, Sr., the son of Daniel Albertson, Sr., was born about 1769 in New York. I understand that my ancestor John Chambers may have removed to Catherine, NY, with the Albertson's and is allied with the Albertson's in other ways, too. John Chambers' father was John Chambers, Sr., who seems to have lived in Montgomery, Ulster [now Orange] Co., NY, during the 1790 NY Census. The town's of Montgomery and Minisink are next to each other and are near or include Middletown, NY. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Nathaniel Sutton left a bequest in his will to his "cousin" (nephew wasn't a term used then), John Gosby. There was a daughter Mary - Mary Sutton and her father, George, were indicted in Huntington, NY 1660. George Sutton and John & Mary Gosby sold their land in NY to James Mills in 1663, who later claimed land rights in NC for "...Geo Sutton and his wife, Nathanl Sutton, Joseph Sutton, Mary Gosby, Eliz Sutton..." Nothing claimed for John Gosby because he didn't live to make it to NC. The young widow Mary Sutton Gosby married Albert Albertson 20 Dec. 1668 in Perquimans County, NC. Author: aaronwaynebrown Surnames: Albertson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.albertson/478/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This is long. Please bear with me. I'm searching for information on my g-g-grandfather, P.C. Albertson. His daughter, Naomi, was my g-grandmother. According to my grandfather, who passed away quite some time ago, Naomi hardly ever talked about her family so I have very little information. Here is what I know: Naomi was born Nov. 6 1886 in either Texas, Washington state or Washington D.C. I have found different records that say each of these three, though I believe the most likely to be Washington State, around Lewis or King Counties or possibly Texas. It is unlikely she was born in DC, I think that was a scrivener's error. She had a younger brother named Theo and she might have had another brother named either Simon, Samuel or Solomon or something similar. I found a birth record for an unidentified male child born to P.C. and Mary Jane Albertson in 1891 in Lewis County, Washington and believe this to be Theo. I have not found a birth record for Naomi or Simon/Solomon/Samuel. Confusing the issue, I found a 1895 census record listing P.C., Mary and Theo and ...Laura? I am certain this is my gggrandparents, unfortunately Naomi is not listed in this record, and I have no idea where the name Laura came from. The Laura in this record is about the same age that Naomi would have been at the time. It's possible that Laura could be a sister who was never mentioned by Naomi or maybe a first or middle name for Naomi, though that was never mentioned either. Subsequent searches have proved completely fruitless. No birth records, no census records, nor death records, squat. In this record, PC is listed as being born in MO, Mary in TX, Laura in TX, and Theo in WA. I cant find P.C., Mary Jane, Naomi, Theo, Simon, Samuel, Solomon, or Laura in any other record until 1908 when Naomi married John Irvin Kirkpatrick in Jefferson County, Oklahoma. In the 1910 census, Naomi moved with her husband to VanZandt County, Texas and I can document her quite effectively until her death in 1966 in Ardmore, OK under the names/spellings of Naomi, Noami, Noma, Oma, Omi and Omie. Seriously, as if it hasn't been hard enough to track her down, her name is never spelled the same way twice. Also in 1910, Theo was working as a ranch/farm hand in Jefferson County, OK and I can pretty well document him until his death in Dallas, TX. I found an 1883 marriage record in Paris, Lamar County, Texas for P.C. Albertson and Mary Fulbright. The record itself was burned in the early 1900's. I have not been able to find any records on PC Albertson prior to his marriage to Mary in 1883. I have not been able to find any records on either P.C., Mary or Laura since 1895. I haven't found any records on Simon/Samuel/Solomon at all. I have a reason to suspect that my P.C. Albertson MAY be the son of Early and Margaret Albertson from Missouri. On the 1860 census their son is listed as "Perrin", on an 1865 census, he is listed as "V.C." and on the 1870 census he is listed as "Marion C." I haven't found any records on this guy after 1870 to either link him to my P.C. Albertson or to prove that it's not him. But the dates and location match. Plus, I've seen a picture of this Early Albertson and quite honestly, I see a big resemblance between him and my grandfather and my cousin. ANY information or direction would be appreciated. I feel like I have been beating my head against a brick wall trying to trace down Naomi's family. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. In fact, my grandparents, Paul Allen Albertson, Sr and Mary Eva Lawson Albertson are buried there. Reason, the Albertson family gave the land to the church and up to 4 generations of Albertsons could be buried there. I hope that this is helpful. There is also an Albertson Rd. in Davidson/Randolph county line. My great grandmother was an English--I mention that as you mentioned the English family as well. I have most of the family pictures...I am sort of the keeper of them, and I am the youngest grandchild and great niece of my Albertson relatives that I know. My grandfather had 8 siblings (he was number 7 of 9 total) and the older siblings were much, much older and I do not know their children or grand children. My grandfather died in 1970, and I wasn't born until 1971. My grandparents lived on the last 10 acres that was left from a land gr! ant given to the family in the 1700's, but was lost after the paid $600.00 per son to keep them from fighting in the Civil War, as most of our family is Quaker--the English side has many Wesleyans. After the Civil War, much of the land was sold or taken to pay the taxes owed to the government. That last 10 acres was sold to Charity Baptist Church by my father and uncle in the 1990's after my grandmother passed. This land is on Albertson Rd. in Randolph County, but I believe is a Thomasville address--very near to the cemetery I mentioned earlier. This may be more information than you were looking for but hopefully, will put some puzzle pieces together for you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
