Well continuing on from my last posting. Albert Hughes did arrive in Canada 1887 his second wife Annie Wallace arrived from England in 1896 the same year that they married in Winnipeg. They married in September 1896. Did he know her already, and send for her? Why did he say he had remarried in when he wrote the letter 1889 surely there wasn't another wife in between those years? I am going slowly though the passenger lists at the moment trying to find Emily and Albert Hughes. In 1901 Albert was still a druggist in the census of Medicine Hat. I found that the house he lived in, in Medicine Hat, Alberta has been preserved and moved from the Airport site where it was originally. This is the web site, it mentions Minto Hughes which is the name of one of Albert's children and a druggist being one of the former owners. Hope its ok to put it on here.
