Posted on: General Alberta<br>Canada Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Canada/Alberta/General/11583 Surname: HAMMARTON, HAMMARBERG, HAMMERBERG, NILSSON, HAMILTON, CRAM, FLYGARE ------------------------- I have been researching the above mentioned surnames and have quite a bit of information so far, and am willing to share or exchange info with any "cousins" who may be interested. I am descended from Andrew and Matilda, through my grandfather Carl August Hammerberg, but would love to get in touch with cousins descended from Andrew's brother Peter or their sister Laurina Margreta. Eric Andreas Hammarton (name changed to Andrew Hammarberg) and his wife Katrina Matilda Nilsson (known as Matilda) came to Canada from Sweden in 1907 with their two children. They settled west of Donalda. Matilda's sister Hulda Karolina Nilsson came to Canada with them. Hulda married Andrew's brother who was already living in the Duhammel/New Norway district. He was Karl Peter Hammarton (name changed to Hamilton): he came to the US with his first wife Marta (name changed to Myrtle; she died in 1906)in about 1894 and to the Duhamel district, Alberta Canada in 1897. Peter and Hulda had 4 children: Marie Helena Hamilton, Martha Christina Hamilton, Carl Anton Hamilton, and Bror Helge Hamilton. Hulda died about 1914/1917 of childbirth, and Peter moved to Port Hammond, BC where he died in 1925. Laurina Margreta Hammarton, who was the sister of Peter and Andrew, died in Sweden shortly after her husband Johan Jakob Johansson Flygare. Their 4 surviving children eventually came to Canada (Frida Johanna Flygar born 02 February 1885 (married Dr. P.A. MacDonald) , Olga Margreta Flygar born 06 April 1886 {I have been in touch with Olga's daughter}, Johan Konrad Flygar (known as Conrad) was born on 28 May 1888 , and Jernis Erenus Flygar born 05 April 1894). The two boys apparently changed their last names to Johnson. I would also love to be in touch with their descendants
