Greetings All. As a result of the recent change of servers on which the Post 1901 Census Project website is housed. The new server is UNIX based and URLs are now case-sensitive. I would ask anyone having links to us on their website to update the URL which is now http://globalgenealogy.com/Census en français http://globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index_f.htm Please note the only change to the URL is the capitalizing of the C in Census (and the removal of www which is optional). Petitions have been coming in on a regular basis but they are still needed so keep them coming. A reminder that no changes should be made to the printed petitions. Any changes made may cause government scrutineers to void petitions. Do not photocopy petitions containing signatures. In the last batch sent in there was a petition of eight signatures rejected because it was determined to be a photocopy. Black ink should be avoided because it looks too much like a photocopy. Keep your letters and emails going to your Member of Parliament, Industry Minister Brian Tobin, Heritage Minister Sheila Copps, and Chief Statistician Dr. Ivan Fellegi. It is important that they be made aware that we have no intention of going away and that we wish to see the recommendations contained in the Report of the Expert Panel implemented. If we continue our efforts we will succeed. It will just take a little more time. Do not become discouraged because of the apparent lack of action. Do not be complacent, thinking the actions of others will be sufficient without your participation -- it will not be. Stand up and be counted. Every person's voice, every letter and email, and every signature on a petition, will help to achieve our goal of regaining public access to Historic Census Records. Without those records our search for our ancestors will be more difficult than it need be. Happy Hunting. Gordon A.
