    3. Does anyone know where I can get obituary info for my great-uncle, Charles Gordon? He was born 24th April 1890 in Panbride, Angus, Scotland and died on 24th May 1940 in Clareshaven, Alberta, Canada. He married Lilian Sarah DARLOW on 27th April 1927 in Clareshaven, Alberta, Canada. They had one son (that i know of - there may be others), Charles born after 1927. Charles Jr was a photographer for the local paper and served in the Canadian Navy, but I have absolutely no information about Charles Sr, other than that he served (and survived) in the First World War and emigrated to Canada some time in 1918. I think his brother, John (b. 1891, Arbirlot or Arbroath), also emigrated at the same time and possibly on the same ship. He also served in WW1 and emigrated afterwards. Port of entry for Charles Sr was Halifax. Lilian DARLOW was born in Condover, Shropshire (IGI says Condover, Scotland - but there's no such place). Someone was kind enough to send me links to the emigration lists for Halifax for 1918, but I have lost the links (massive computer crash). Any help in tracing my great uncles and their families would be appreciated as I'd love to get in touch with my Canadian cousins. Regards and best wishes, Kay

    3. Hi Kay I Am an ex Canadian Naval photographer and served with a naval photographer CHARLES GORDON junior from Claresholm not Clareshaven Alberta, while he was stationed in Ottawa. I have his present address as Edmonton Alberta. He is listed under C.A. GORDON in the following Link. http://www.411.ca/ I do not have his e-mail address but you could possibly drop him a line. I am quite sure that is him at that address because the last Christmas card that he sent a few years ago was from there. Bye the way Claresholm is a town of about 3500 in Alberta situated south of Calgary. Hope this helps Ex CPO1 Photographer RCN Bill Giles Ottawa > -----Original Message----- > From: alberta-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:alberta-bounces@rootsweb.com] On > Behalf Of Kay Gordon > Sent: September 19, 2006 3:41 AM > To: ALBERTA-L > Subject: [ALBERTA] Charles GORDON; born 1891 Panbride, Angus, Scotland;died > 1940, Clareshaven Alberta > > Does anyone know where I can get obituary info for my great-uncle, Charles Gordon? > He was born 24th April 1890 in Panbride, Angus, Scotland and died on 24th May 1940 > in Clareshaven, Alberta, Canada. > > He married Lilian Sarah DARLOW on 27th April 1927 in Clareshaven, Alberta, > Canada.
