    3. Hi All listers, For any of you have written looking for lookups in these "dandy" Alberta books.......please bare with me. I took Sat, Sun, and Mon off of the computer as it was our Thanksgiving here.....busy finishing renovating a spare bedroom and turkey and all that stuff. Anyway, I was overwhelmed at the amount of people searching in Alberta or rellies they think may have been here. First off, within the first hour I posted I had 21 requests and I replied to all that night. As of right now I have another 83. I am not complaining......I don't mind or I wouldn't have offered but it is going to take me a couple days to get through them all. I am starting at the top and working down the list, so you will get your info if its in there. This brings me to this........I decided to just send you all this address then I won't have to retype it or be cutting and pasting all the time. For any of you that get info with reference numbers I am enclosing the address in which you need to write to in order to get the certificate. Also to answer the question of where did I get it? A friend of mine won them at a museum showing in Edmonton.I borrowed them from the lady she gave them too(wish she would have given them to me) LOL, The address I am providing and phone number may be able to tell you also if they are available for purchase and the price, as I am not sure. The books were printed in 1998 so are relatively new prints.Apparently the info in the books was compiled from genealogy indexes, public records, provincial archives and info from the Documentary Heritage Society of Alberta. I am only assuming....that even though some of your relatives may not be in the book, may not necessarily mean they weren't here. Always good to check the following Alberta Census site too. http://users.rootsweb.com/~canab/index.html And on a final note.....I will be keeping all info that each of you has sent. I am intending on looking into the "Henderson Directories" that are available at the Main Library. These books go back to the early 1900's and were done for many years to follow. They list such info as where that person may have lived in the Edmonton/Alberta area, their occupation, where they came from and some list where they worked. I cannot tell you when I will be going, but that I do intend on doing so in the near future. If I come across anything that pertains to you, I will email you. For anyone who hasn't sent a request yet and needs one, please don't hesitate to ask...you will just get put in the order in which you are recieved. So here is where you need to contact for certificates or info on the books. Again, the names of the books are as follows: 1) Proof of Age Documents in Alberta, 1863-1969 2)Alberta (Formerly a part of the North West Territories) -An index to Birth, Marriage and Death Registration prior to 1900. *** DHSA (Documentary Heritage Society of Alberta) C/O Provincial Archives of Alberta 12845-102 Ave, NW Edmonton, Alberta,Canada T5N-0M6 Phone: 780-427-0605 Thanks everyone and I will be sending info out as I find it starting after I send this email. Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!! Take care, Elaine in Alberta, Canada
