Hi Theresa, I am assuming you got the birthyears and places of birth from the 1881 British Census? Looking at it, you can see in 1881 they were in Leigh, Stafford, England. Why don't you try to find the birth record for Joseph at the LDS? They have the indexes up to the 20th century so you should be able to find him if he was born in England. If you don't already know, the data is indexed by year, by quarter and then alphabetically. Maybe start in the second quarter of 1881 in case Sarah was pregnant at the time of the census. Once you have the index reference you can order the actual certificate. Good luck.
