Norma, The title of the book is in French but the text is in both languages. I guess the title would translate as "Guide to the Archives of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate-Province of Alberta-Saskatchewan"(Province in this case is the Oblate ecclesiastical division). The Vancouver Public Library has it. I'm sure libraries in the prairies would have it also. If I recall I think it covers basically what is today Alberta and Saskatchewan. There are a number of other archives for the Oblates. The ones I've seen are in French as most (all?) of the oblates at this time were French speaking. There is a book called "Les Oblats de Marie Immaculée dans l'Quest et le Nord du Canada, 1845-1967" by Donat Levasseur. I found this book at the University of B.C. library. On page 317 & 318 it lists the various archives for the Oblate records. They are in Rome, Ottawa (for Manitoba), St. lbert( for the Oblate province of Grandin and ex Provinces of Grouard and Mackenzie), Edmonton, Montreal (for St. Boniface), etc. John ----- Original Message ----- From: hbhorte <hbhorte@telusplanet.net> To: <ALBERTA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 06, 2001 2:15 PM Subject: [ALBERTA] RE;re: Provincial Archives > In English please what IS the book?? > Where do you get it? > Does it cover more that Alberta and Saskachwan? > Please let us know ok.................. > Norma > > > ==== ALBERTA Mailing List ==== > Do not send attachments (attached files) of any sort to the mailing > list. Hello list, I'm hoping that this is not too far fetched a request. I'm wondering if sks from Red Deer would be able to get a copy of an obit from the Red Deer Advocate edition January 19, 1993 for a Walter Charles TAMS. He apparently died on January 17th at 78 years of age. He lived in Calgary and was buried in Innisfail. I'm happy to pay costs for photocopying, etc. TIA Joyce Johnson jaj@netidea.com BC, Canada
