    3. Hi, I have been trying to unravel the mystery of what happened to my great grandfathers sister Emily Hughes nee Gough. Emily Gough married Albert Hughes in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England 1886. They went to Banff, Alberta about 1887, Albert worked at the Sanitarium, Banff he was a Druggist (chemist). He worked along side a Dr Brett, in some records it says they were in partnership. I have a letter to Emily's brother Phillip Gough sent by Albert Hughes 31st March 1889 saying that he had caught Emily in some indiscretion so he had given her £28 fare back to England. He heard she had got as far as Winnipeg and then gone on to the USA that he says was 18 months ago. He said he had divorced her. He also says that he had remarried. He didn't until 1895 unless there was another wife in-between 1889 and 1895. He also appears to give his age as 11 years younger than it is in the 1901 census. He was baptised 1849, Emily was born 1863 and his second wife Annie 1869. I found details about him on the Pioneers site. So far nothing he says ties up with what I have discovered on the internet. He moved from Banff about 1890 to Medicine Hat, he worked as a druggist for about two years then raised horses. He married an Annie Wallace 1895 in Winnipeg and they had about four children. The letter and the facts don't seem to tie in and I am at a loss at how I could find Emily and what happened to her. Has anyone any ideas please. Regards Ann-Marie
