    2. Deb Forsyth-Petrov
    3. Hi Janet, Would suggest that you call upon your federal MP for assistance. I have found them to be of invaluable assistance in the past, when federal government processes appear to break down. They will be able to get an answer where you probably will not. Provincial MPP's are great too, if you are dealing with a provincial government service issue (or lack thereof). Good Luck! 3. Thanks to all for their responses to my query, however my interest was in regards to the **1918** registration rather than the 1940. I have had good success with the 1940 file in the past and if it were not so expensive to access a file, I would order many more files. Thanks kindly. Cheers, -- Laury Walkey (Miss) BC, Canada

    3. The 1940 National registration information is available on: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/genealogy/022-907.006-e.html You can order the record for a cost of $50.00. If the record has been destroyed or they can't find it they refund the money. If the person died between 1940 and 46 the registration was destroyed. I am trying to order my great grandfather's and sent the information to Vital stats in late June-still no registration information. They sent me a letter to say they received my letter as they were required to respond within 60 days. I received that at the end of August but haven't received anything more. They cashed my cheque in September. 3. I've come across a Canada Registration Board card for my great-grandmother which registered her for "national purposes of Canada" in 1918 at her residence in Three Hills, AB. I wondered if this was a similar program to the National Registration of 1940 and if these records were also available for genealogical purposes? Thanks kindly. 3. Ines, Thanks for this link! I'm wanting to find my grandfather, John SHAW, who arrived in Canada in 1906, and his bride, Margaret HASTINGS who arrived in 1907. So far no luck, but I'm hopeful. 1. [ALBERTA] Albert Hughes
    2. Ann-Marie Roberts
    3. Well continuing on from my last posting. Albert Hughes did arrive in Canada 1887 his second wife Annie Wallace arrived from England in 1896 the same year that they married in Winnipeg. They married in September 1896. Did he know her already, and send for her? Why did he say he had remarried in when he wrote the letter 1889 surely there wasn't another wife in between those years? I am going slowly though the passenger lists at the moment trying to find Emily and Albert Hughes. In 1901 Albert was still a druggist in the census of Medicine Hat. I found that the house he lived in, in Medicine Hat, Alberta has been preserved and moved from the Airport site where it was originally. This is the web site, it mentions Minto Hughes which is the name of one of Albert's children and a druggist being one of the former owners. Hope its ok to put it on here. See http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/passenger/index-e.html These are not like the Ellis Island records because extraction is not done but certainly allows us the convenience of searching from home instead of having to go to the library. 3. Thank you so much for the help and advice everyone. I will spend some time looking at these sites and see what I come up with. Sorry Larry, Annie Wallace's birthdate on the 1901 census is January 27th 1869 born England. the only person in the UK born then was Dudley, Worcestershire. It depends when she went to Canada. I found details about her and husband Albert Hughes, on the Pioneers web site http://www.pioneersalberta.org/profiles under H. Regards Ann-Marie
