He later registered with A.Ph.A. When Dr. Sawdon's son, Austin Sawdon, graduated from U.of A. in 1935, he took over the pharmacy which he named Sawdon Pharmacy. He operated it for 30 years until 1965. Doris Caroline Sherring (nee Wyndham) was a pharmacist at Sawdon's. Austin Sawdon sold to Doug McPherson who changed the name to "Capital Drugs" and continued to operate it until 1978. http://www.ourroots.ca/e/toc.aspx?id=5305 On another web site (which was very difficult to read) it says Dr. Sawdon died 10 June 1947 and he married Laura Robinson who d. 14 Dec 1964 in Three Hills, d/o George Thomas Robinson and Emma Elizabeth Craig who married 27 June 1879 in the Methodist Church, Leeds, Megantic Co, Quebec. I tried searchin all of the 1900 census records, but darned if I could find him. good luck, Bette

I also use rootsweb, but like you, I am having trouble with the new format. My email is nicolehunchak@shaw.ca. I hope the films I ordered help me in my search. I really appreciate your help! 1. [ALBERTA] 1910 - 1918 Bassano, AB - John T and Mary E Allen
    2. LK Allan
    3. John T and Mary E Allen operated a boarding house on the edge of Bassano, AB between 1910 and 1918. They had older boys, James/or/Jim, Charles, Leo, a daughter, Mabelle, William/or/Bill, Leo, and Dorothy and a baby they named Mary Gertrude who was born there. The older kids were teenagers while living in Bassano and Leo, Dorothy and Mary were smaller children during that time. A cousin has the boarding house guest book, but she is in her 80s and gave that to her son and I don't know how to get in touch with Randy. I've seen the book one time in my life. If anyone knows of this boarding house and John T. Allen's Dopple Grey horse team that took visitors from downtown to the boarding house, I would like to hear about this. I believe they were a Catholic family. Mary E. Allen was born as Mary E. O Hallarn/Hallarn in Michigan to Caroline B. O'brien and Patrick O'Hallarn (spelling being consistant on this surname is rare). I believe that it is entirely possible that John T and Mary Allen were in Bassano, AB on the invitation of Mary's family - the O'brien family, possibly. Any records of Mary Gertrude Allen being born in Bassano, AB is greatly appreciated. Also any information about the entire Allen family and possibly extended family in the O'briens or O'Hallarns would be also greatly appreciated. Mary E. Allen died Feb 25, 1922 and is buried in Washougal, WA's Holy Cross Cemetery. John T. Allen died in March of 1952 and is buried in Yakima, Wa Here's a link to my family's genealogy web page: http://www.lindakathleen.com/johntallen.html Thank you.
