Posted on: General Alberta
Canada Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/Canada/Alberta/General/11442 Surname: ------------------------- I am trying to figure out how Homesteaders claimed their land. I have an Indenture between my great grandfather and another fellow that shows grandfather receiving land for the sum of $5000. There is also a Quit Claim between the two of them. In a sworn statement grandfather says he exchanged his River Lot to this fellow for the land...he makes no mention of the $5000. Later grandfather is appling for Homestead Patent for one quarter of the land and pre-emption at $1.00 per acre for the other quarter. If he has already paid for or traded land for this half section...why doesn't he own it??
Hello group, I'm searching for my greatgrandmother's grave, Etta (Gaff) BOON, born in Oronoque , Norton County Kansas, in 1882. She lived her last 40 years approximately in Edmonton, and passed away about 1978. I would like to locate her gravesite in Edmonton. Thankyou , Barry H.
I just received this email from Kindred Konnections. They are doing the same thing that the other "Genealogy" Site did. They are charging subscription prices to see information on the web that any of us can access for free. How do I know this??? When I did a search of my grandfather's name, there was my OLD site address. Save yourself the subscription fee. DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE. They are just stealing your money! Cindy Listen to the Angels! Posted on: General Alberta
Canada Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/Canada/Alberta/General/11438 Surname: Edwards, Butcher ------------------------- Thanks Ed for putting my e-mail back on. I wasn't sure what to do. I have not been looking for Garnet Edwards very long because I didn't know anything about him until my mom died in October. At that time I found out that he had been my real father. I went to the Museum of Regiments in January and they gave me a phone number for Brian King. He checked what ever records he had and couldn't find a shipping out order for Garnet. I can't understand why there isn't something because I just saw his picture in a magazine with some of the first warbrides to come home. So that shows me that he was over there because he was in his full dress, kilt and all. I'm not real sure how to search this out but I am trying to find his medical records at least because he may not even be alive at this time. If you think of anyone else to chat with I would appreciate a note. Take care and have a great day. Shirley

Posted on: General Alberta
Canada Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/Canada/Alberta/General/11434 Surname: Edwards, Butcher ------------------------- I am looking for my father Garnet Edwards. He was sent into WWII from Calgary, Canada - with the Calgary Highlanders in 1941. He married in Britain, Ms. Butcher. They were in a Chatelaine magazine May 1943 as one of the first war brides to be brought back to Canada. His family were farm people from Alberta Canada and his father was in the Air Force, but I'm not sure of the years. Garnet had a sister Margaret that visited Calgary. Any assistance in this search will be greatfully received.
Posted on: General Alberta
Canada Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Canada/Alberta/General/11433 Surname: HAMMARTON, HAMMARBERG, HAMMERBERG, NILSSON, HAMILTON, CRAM ------------------------- I have been researching the above mentioned surnames and have quite a bit of information so far, and am willing to share or exchange info with any "cousins" who may be interested. Here is a small sample of what I have: Eric Andreas Hammarton (name changed to Andrew Hammarberg) and his wife Katrina Matilda Nilsson (known as Matilda) came to Canada from Sweden in 1907 with their two children. They settled west of Donalda. Matilda's sister Hulda Karolina Nilsson came with them. Hulda married Andrew's brother who was already living in Canada. He was Karl Peter Hammarton (name changed to Hamilton): he came to the US with his wife Marta (name changed to Myrtle; she died in 1906)in about 1894 and to the Duhamel district, Alberta Canada in 1897.
