    1. [ALBERTA] FISHER family of Medicine Hat
    2. Rob Fisher
    3. Hello, I am researching the FISHER family of Medicine Hat. Edwin Bayard FISHER (d. 1939) and his wife Annie Pickard FOWLER (d. 1951) moved there from New Brunswick circa1920 and are buried in Hillside cemetery. I am looking for any information about their descendants in the area. Thanks, Rob Fisher

The Horbals came to Alberta between 1925-1926. The three Berezowski children came in about 1928.

I doubt if he is your Olaf Peterson, as to my knowledge he never married, but here it is for what it's worth. The entry reads in part: Olaf Peterson immigrated from Sweden to South Dakota where he ranched. He came from there and filed on N 1/2 of 5-28-9 in 1909. He moved to the district in the spring of 1910. He brought a large herd of horses and was driving them from Brooks in June, and was caught in the blizzard that hit on the third of June. He sold most of the horses to settlers in the district. He farmed his half section and in 1919 he bought the south half of the section he lived on from Jim Rainboth. He farmed this land until 1941 when he moved to Youngstown where he resided until his death."

Steve's second wife was a half sister to Stella, with a maiden name of Berezowski, Bersowski, Berzowski - not sure of the spelling. Looking for any information on both sides. Steve had 3 brothers and three sisters. Nieces and nephews that came from perhaps Poland had last name Horbal although it is not quite clear if they were Steve's or Stella's nephews and nieces. 3. Alice, Ponoka is a town 100 km south of Edmonton or 50 km north of Red Deer. Ponoka is in the centre of a major agricultural area of central Alberta. County of Ponoka surrounds the town. Millett is a village 40 km south of Edmonton, just south of Leduc. It too is in an agricultural area. Millett is in the County of Leduc. Patience may have been a hamlet, as it's not on the current highway map. Some other provinces obviously need some improvement. Course I'm snapping my genealogical suspenders with pride at the good Alberta showing right now. We prairie folk really need to get the 1906 and later censuses. But I'd really like to congratulate Nfld for getting on the board. After all, they are much less affected by the census release censure than the rest of the country. Having joined the Confederation much later, they can and have released data to at least 1921. > Previous Current Total > > AB 52 1188 1240 > NF 166 00 166 > ========================================== > Totals 1185 2239 3424 Table above snipped to suit me. :-) -- Judii Rempel rempel@jrsolutions.net Russian Mennonite Genealogy: <http://members.home.com/rempel/> Mennonite Historical Society of Alberta: <http://www.rootsweb.com/~abmhsa/> Alberta Family Histories Society <http://www.afhs.ab.ca> Canadian Genealogical Projects Registry <http://www.afhs.ab.ca/registry/> JR Solutions: <http://www.jrsolutions.net> Canadian Population Society: <http://www.canpopsoc.org>
