I believe that he had emigrated to Canada sometime before WWI from Co. Mayo, Ireland. His father was John Glover of Foxford, Co. Mayo. He enlisted with the 12th Regiment of the of the Canadian Mounted Rifles in Calgary on 6 Apr 1915. He served overseas were he met and married his future wife, Norah Augusta Prouse of Sussex County, England. They returned to Canada and raised six sons in Lethbridge, Alberta. The boys names were; Lawrence (Larry) Frederick who was killed 28 May 1940 in France, Raymond, James, John, Stanley, and William. The three oldest boys enlisted with the English war units mostly from Sussex. I am trying to locate any information on these particular individuals. Any help that you could supply would be greatly appreciated. David Mawhinney

    1. [ALBERTA] FRIBANCE/COMPTON from PUFFER/CORONATION
    2. Dear Listers, I have Heather to thank for finding the land grant locations for those of Edward and Harold Fribance. Apparently it was in the area of Puffer. Edward Fribance married Ellen Compton somewhere near Coronation in 1905 but it is possible that it could have been somewhere between Puffer and Coronation. Is there a town between these two towns?! Anyway, I am still keen to find out any other information regarding the Fribance surname in these areas.....and also for any information of a John Wilkin being there around that time. Many thanks, Alannah

    1. [ALBERTA] Local History Book Index
    2. Darlene Homme
    3. The new index for Alberta Local History books is now completed and online at the Alberta GenWeb site!! There are now indexes for 324 Local History Books in the Alberta GenWeb archives both individually and as an overall index. The books now total more than 222,000 entries. The search engines for the Archives and/or the GenWeb site will search the database. When you find a relative that you are interested in researching further please check the Lookup Volunteers in the appropriate county at http://users.rootsweb.com/~canab/lookups.html If there is no lookup volunteer available there are still several options such as library research, archives research, or placing a query on our own ALBERTA-L mail list - which in itself has an abundance of lookup volunteers!!! Because of the size of the project there have been a few subdirectory changes. If you are linked to the index page you will need to change your URL's to http://users.rootsweb.com/~canab/digital/lhb/lhbindex.html This URL has the index for the database. It is no longer included on the General Province Archives page. Thank you once again to all who have assisted with the project by donating indexes! Although it is far from completed it is still a wonderful "free resource" for genealogists. -- Darlene Homme Alberta GenWeb Provincial Co-ordinator http://users.rootsweb.com/~canab/index.html Alberta Digital Archives Archivist - Province and all counties http://users.rootsweb.com/~canab/digital/abarchive.html Kentucky Archivist for: Campbell County Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/campbell/toc.html Cumberland County Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/cumberland/toc.html Green County Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/green/green.html Madison County Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/madison/toc.html Rowan County Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/rowan/rowan.html Wayne County Archives http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/wayne/wayne.html Personal Genealogy Web Site - The Homme Genealogy Page http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~alberta/
