    1. [ALBERTA] Re: Catherine Priddis
    2. The marriage registration you mentioned is the correct one for Catherine Priddis. I had already obtained the same information through the Vital Records Index, British Isles as well as through the microfilm records at the Family History Centre. I sent away for the certificate. According to the marriage certificate, Catherine Priddis was 20 when she married William Streeter on July 6, 1868 at St. Nicholas Church in Brighton. This would mean that her birth date should have been between July 1847 and June 1848, if we are to believe the marriage certificate. Her father is listed as Henry Priddis, Fisherman, residing at 74 Pimlico in Brighton. One of the witnesses to the marriage was Eliza Priddis, her sister. [The other was Wm. Gillan]. I have not yet been able to find a birth registration in 1847 or 1848 for a Catherine Priddis. I wonder if Catherine would have been her first or second name, and if her birth would have been registered under another name? I have gathered other information leading to people I believe would have been sisters, brothers and parents of my Catherine Priddis. I am intrigued that you have over 4000 names in your research on this surname. The names I have are: Henry Priddis b 1817/1818 (possibly her father); Henry Priddis b 1836/1837 Frederick Priddis b 1841 Mary Priddis b 1841 Matthew Priddis b 1843 Catherine Priddis b 1847/48 Elizabeth Priddis b 1849 Each of the above children have a father named Henry Priddis and a mother named Catherine. I have found a marriage entry in 1834 for Henry Priddis and Catherine Baulcombe, and I believe that these are the parents of my Catherine. I also believe that the other children (Henry Jr., Frederick, Mary, Matthew and Elizabeth) are most likely her brothers and sisters. Do you have any of these people in your research? Am I on the right track? I would be interested in hearing back from you. If you wish to write directly instead of through this message board, please feel free to use my email address. 1. [ALBERTA] Re: Re:Priddis, Rudy family search
    2. Hi, I have been researching "Priddis" for many years and have a database of 4000 entries. Catherine Priddis married in Brighton in 1868. The registration quarter was September, Volume 2b, page 265. This seems to be the only likely marriage. The only likely birth for this Catherine in Brighton was 1845, March quarter, Vol. VII, page 289. The above information is sufficient for you to order a marriage and/or birth certificate from the Family Records Centre, London. These would give parents names and occupations on birth cert. and father's name and occupation on marriage cert. for both bride and groom. Contact me further if you like. David

    1. [ALBERTA] Re: STAAL family - Holland to Australia
    2. Hello Leigh-Anne, I'm sorry, but your Staals and mine don't seem to be connected at all. My husband's great grandparents, Edward Staal and Grace Huntley, emigrated from Holland to USA in the 1860's. They had eight children - Lena, Margaret, George, Dena, Lupka, Mary, William and Lydia. Several of them moved to Alberta, Canada as young adults, and descendants remain here, as far as I know. I have no record of any in Australia. Good luck on your search. Ruth

    1. [ALBERTA] Re: STAAL family - Holland to Australia
    2. I have just started to trace my mothers family tree. Have very limited information. My grandfather and grandmother is Geertrudis Maria Staal (b. 15/06/1918 d. 14/10/1989) and Christiaan Staal (b. 30/04/1919 d. 30/04/1974?) They are from Holland. Emigrated to Australia around 1950's some went to Australia some to New Zealand. They had three children (Anna Margaretha, Maria and Richard) Do these names appear in anyones family tree.
