Re: > Hello. Would any one have or could tell me where i could see on line or > search for Tremblay in a 1850 or later directory of Lac La Biche,AB,CA.? The first directory to cover what is now Alberta was published in 1884; it was Henderson's directory of Manitoba and the Northwest Territories. The first few were relatively small; they doubled in size within about five years. But even then, it's doubtful they had enumerators looking at anything but the biggest centres; bear in mind that even in the 1880s, Alberta was still in the early stages of settlement. Hi everyone, I am new to the list, new to searching for the folks, does anyone on the list have any information on the following? HANNAH WILLIAMS was buried in TABER ALBERTA CANADA in 1925, Her Married Name was BENTON, (she would have been buried as BENTON) Her Husband Was DAVID BENTON who appears to not exist except as hannahs Hubby. They had at least 2 sons, JACK and DAVID, both of whom, like their parents were born here in the UK. JACK & DAVID jr, Both died in BC. I have no idea if DAVID sr died here before the others left or if he too travelled to Canada, I am presuming that he had family there, prior to arrival. I have traced HANNAH back 12 generations, but can find nothing on DAVID. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Melanie BENTON England

I have been asked by Senator Milne to appear before this Committee and am currently working like mad to prepare for this. Submissions and letters to the Senate Committee are welcomed from the public. If you are intending to seek the support of Committee members for this Bill that seeks to allow the public access to Historic Census Records that we want, and need, the time to do so is NOW!!!! Your assistance by writing members of the Committee, encouraging them to support Bill S-12 and to not drag out and further delay discussion and passage of the Bill, is requested. I am new to this list and am trying to find where and when my husband's grandfather, Harry Rodie, arrived in Alberta from Scotland (Glasgow). We are told it was about 1908, that he built houses in Lethbridge and that he married Margaret Andrew(s) (also from Scotland) in Alberta. We do know that he was in Kamloops, B.C. by 1910 and had a son. Would anyone be able to advise me how to find a marriage record - if there is one - and how to find out when he arrived from Scotland. Many thanks. Gillian Rodie, Nova Scotia
