Is there anyone on the Alberta list resident in Red Deer? I am looking to make contact with my MacDonald relatives living in the area, but have no information to go on. Could someone tell me how many MacDonalds are on the electoral register, or in the phone directory, for the area? A brief e-mail to my personal address would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Robin Macdonald (Devon, UK)
Hi tio the list, what an amazing response to my query. I received many many leads and much helpful info. Thank you. The western Canda Land Grant site is amazing but I have a couple more questions. Is there a site on the internet that will show a map of Western Canada showing the meridians? Also, is there any rationale for the way the folios are numbered, e.g. If the folio number begins with C.... would that mean earlier homestead grants such as in the 1800's? Thanks again, Gladys Slemp Coronation
Sail on Nova Scotia Radio - http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/bryanfkeddy/SONS.html The SONS radio was set up as a pre-celebration of 2003 -- when people like me celebrate the founding of Lunenburg in 1753. We expect St.John's Anglican Church to be rebuilt by then, after all this is only the beginning of 2002! Also, 2003 is the year the 1911 Canadian census is supposed to be released -- if approval is granted. Many are working very hard -- pulling together from coast-to-coast-to-coast with a great deal of information about Town Hall meetings, Compromise Solution (no solution!) and Focus Groups from Gordon Watts. Guy Lombardo's "I'm My Own Grandpa" -- could be a great song as a theme song for census release!!!! This time it is acknowledging the safe passage of Senator Lorna Milne's Bill S-12 through the Committee -- it is now in Third Reading status, to be brought back about middle of February, 2002. Murray Calder will have his great ONE hour of fame about March -- just in time for S-12 to come to House of Commons. Bryan Keddy is the one who handles my personal home page and I heard the words of Farewell to Nova Scotia on SONS today http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~downhome/ we share the following site as well [the Canadian flag logo] http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Farm/7843/poll.html Gordon and I need full mail-boxes -- it does not matter if you send both House of Commons and Senate petitions to me -- I re-mail, as we do not want Murray Calder to be empty-handed when he has the ONE hour of debate allowed by law. Please make certain Senator Lorna Milne has a truckload when she presents her Third Reading -- I can imagine the publicity if her husband has to take the big vehicle he is refinishing to pull the load up Parliament Hill -- do not worry, Ross would do it! The Petition Menu includes English & French Canadian, Non-Resident http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Petition.htm Do we need these -- take a peek at the scoreboards -- no YES letters http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Index6.htm http://www.globalgenealogy.com/Census/Senscore1.htm Read the letters on the private message boards -- when you become angry (as I often do) the message board is at the right side!!! If YOU want the census records released -- NOW is the time we need YOUR help -- the SONS Radio will have a small recording, we hope, from Lorna Milne -- who is offering a big thank-you to anyone who is able to put "I'm My Own Grandpa" on a family group sheet!!! Listen for Ron Farquhar -- my brother -- he is taping for Bryan at present, and some of his songs are original -- might even have Dartmouth SPEBS! We need the support NOW -- in their hands by February 14 and after! Muriel M. Davidson muriel.davidson@rogers.com Co-Chair, Canada Census Committee 25 Crestview Avenue, rampton, ON L6W 2R8

I would appreciate anyone's help regarding Alberta homestead records. I'm trying to establish an approx. date that a great uncle of mine left his homestead near Fleet, Ab and went to live in Black Diamond, Ab. The family thinks about 1930. If he sold the homestead at that time where would I find record of this transaction please. Gladys Slemp, Coronation
Thanks Stella! I happen to live in Grande Prairie! Nice info you have!!! (;o)) Good stuff! But I STILL don't know where Battleriver is in Alberta. Also, I have been to all those sites. " Fernie Rideout" never lived here very long, my husband does not remember meeting her. His Uncle never talked of her(and he knew him well) I wondered as I put this stuff into my computer, where that place was, and what she was like. Her granddaughter does not know much as she died when she was 6 years old I beleive she died in BC if there is someone from there who could look for me...... Thanks again! Norma(bhorte@telusplanet.net)
Where would a person find the archives, if any, for some of the old Photographic Studios which operated in Edmonton and area from the 1920s through to the 1950s? Ernest Brown Studios Goertz Garneau Wells

My mother is adopted & is seeking birth family. There's a possibility that her mother was Helen Stothart Parks. Your last name matches that of twin girls born in San Francisco on the same day as my mother and, according to info provided by California, my mother's birth mother had family and/or was born in Washington. That same info indicates that she had a sister named Dorene who would have been born between 7/1941 & 9/1942. Any chance this could be you?
