I now know where Rossington is located. I should have mentioned in my original post that Geraldine Clark travelled from Rossington to Louisville, St. Lawrence, New York for her father's funeral. 3. Rossington, Alberta is a locality about 18 km (10 miles) west of Westlock, or about 60 miles NW of Edmonton. According to the book "Place Names of Alberta", Volume III, by Tracey Harrison, the name is likely taken after Rossington Moulton, an early settler and the first postmaster. The post office there operated from 1910 to 1969. Gordon > Is there now or was there ever a town in Alberta called Rossington.

    1. [ALBERTA] Irma HOOVER HAUGER
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: HAUGER HOOVER Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/TNC.2ACI/1941 Message Board Post: Miss Irma HOOVER was born in 1923 and had two marriages: #1) 1943 to Mr. Lyman Oliver HAUGER (b. 1919; d. 1946) of Dawson Creek, B.C. #2) 1955/56 to Mr. XXXXXX of Edmonton (?), Alberta Therefore, during her lifetime, her name would have been: "Mrs. Irma HOOVER HAUGER XXXXXX" She died 14 December 1958 due to complications of pregnancy in or near Edmonton (?), Alberta. She had three (3) children - all by different fathers. Her last child, a daughter born in 1953, was immediately placed for adoption. This person born in 1953 is my children's mother. U P D A T E I have now discouvered that Irma (nee Hoover) HAUGER was married to Lyman Oliver HAUGER who was killed in a truck/train collision which was reported in the Vancouver Sun Newspaper 15 October 1946 as follows: CRASH KILLS TWO NEAR DAWSON CREEK, B.C. Two men were killed and a third seriously injured when a truck and a Northern Alberta Railways train were in a collision near Dawson Creek, B.C. Killed were Lyman Hauger, 27, a farmer who was the driver of the truck, and Phillip Ehresman, 45, a hired man. The injured man was Jasper Fraser, 38, who was also riding in the truck. The B.C. Archives/B.C. Vital Statistics Agency describes Lyman Oliver HAUGER as: Gender: Male Age: 27 Event: Death Event Date: 1946 10 15 (Yr/Mo/Day) Event Place: DAWSON CREEK Reg. Number: 1946-09-012117 B.C. Archives Microfilm Number: B13192 GSU Microfilm Number: 2032424 I now know that his 22 year old wife's name was Irma Hoover HAUGER and their two-year old son's name was Edgar HAUGER (b. 1944). Lyman HAUGER was a member of a prominent "pioneer" Dawson Creek, B.C., family headed by "Ed" HAUGER. The following information has been obtained from this website: http://www.calverley.dawson-creek.bc.ca/Part04-Old%20Timers/4-020.html The HAUGER family consisted of these seven (7) individuals: Husband: . . Evan "Ed" Larson HAUGER (b. 20 November 1877, Norway; d. 22 December 1951, Dawson Creek, B.C.) Wife: . . . . . Cora (nee Olson) HAUGER Sons . . . . . #1) Norman Edgar HAUGER (d. 28 August 1931, Pouce Coupe [Dawson Creek], B.C.); and, #2) Lyman Oliver HAUGER (b. 1919; d. 15 October 1946, Dawson Creek, B.C.) Daughters: . Alice HAUGER, Charlotte HAUGER, and Bertha HAUGER In addition, the author discloses that the two Hauger sons met "tragic" accidental deaths in 1931 and 1946, respectively. Previous Message (Posted as Subject: Canada, British Columbia, New Westminster, HAUGER, 1953) AMMENDED: My children's mother was born 29 November 1953 in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, and named Susan Lynn HAUGER. She was immediately placed for adoption. Her mother, who we now know to be Irma (nee HOOVER) HAUGER was born in 1923 and married Lyman Oliver HAUGER in 1943. They had a child in 1944 and named him Edgar HAUGER. Lyman Oliver HAUGER was killed in a truck/train collision accident on 15 October 1946. Irma HOOVER HAUGER gave birth to another son in 1951 by a different father and a daughter (Susan Lynn HAUGER) in 1953 by yet again a different father. She subsequently re-married in either 1955 or 1956 and relocated, perhaps, to a community near Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where she died 14 December 1958 due to complications of pregnancy. Do you know anything about this HOOVER/HAUGER family? Harry Yates Prince George, British Columbia, Canada
