Margie, I can't find my source for this info, but my GG Grand William Washington Pugh was minister at New Bethsaida Primitive Bapt. Church. I don't know if this was the one in Barbour Co. or if there is also a Bethsaida in Henry Co. This church was organized in 1880. Elder E.L. Ward was listed as serving the church in 1888. W.W. Pugh took over in 1894 but was charged in 1898 with "the crime of indulging excessively in intoxicating drink." He was given the boot but his membership was restored a year later after a proper apology was made to the congregation. Within a few months of his apology, he was back in the pulpit on a part time basis. I would love to find out if this is the same church or not. W.W. Pugh preached at County Line in Henry Co., Antioch in Barbour, and Church of Christ at Mt. Enon, location unknown except that it was said to have been located on the Ozark-Eufaula highway.
