Margie, Enjoyed your posts ref Elmira even if I did somehow deleted the second, E thru H, I think; no matter I'll pick it up later; don't know if you are aware of it, but almost a dozen of our gallant men tunnelled-out of Elmira in Oct 1864; more than half were from the State of Alabama; a really good account w/ photos of the Alabamians appears in the book "From Selma to Appomattox, The History of the Jeff Davis Artillery" by Lawrence Laboda.
