Terri, Real pitiful; had they just managed to hang on a bit; the remnants of the rgt were exchanged at Vicksburg in Sept 1862 and allowed to return to the rgt; just a note: the rgt was captured again at Port Hudson, La in Jul 1863 and were again exchanged sometime in late 1863, don't know where they were held that time, but could not have been very pleasant; late in the war, with so few men left, the rgt was consolidated with the 16th, 33d and 45th Ala rgts, loosing its identity as a rgt and that really had to hurt.
