Source: "Biographical History of Primitive or Old School Baptist Ministers of the United States", edited by R.H. Pittman, republished 1984 by Primitive Baptist Publications, Inc. Stone Mountain, GA p. 215-216 L. B. Porter Porter, L.B. (1814-1897), of Russell County, ALa. The character of this man as a citizen, a member of the church and a minister of the gospel, was above reproach. He united with the Primitive Baptist Church at Pleasant Plains in Wilkinson County, Ga. in 1844, and was baptized by John Evers. IN 1849 he was ordained to the ministerial work, and until his death faithfully served the church. He was noted for his humility and meekness, and was greatly loved by those among whom he labored. He was twice married and several children and many grandchildren survive him. Among his grandchildren is Elder David L. Porter of Mississippi.
