Would like to hear from anyone from this CAPPS line. I am trying to connect my James A. CAPPS, born c. 1824 GA (possible son of Eli CAPPS, born c. 1780 SC) to this line. James A. CAPPS married Nancy HAWKINS, 1849 Lee County, GA, in Coffee County, AL by 1860, in Barbour County by 1861 or 1862. James joined Co. C. 39th (29th?) AL, CSA, came to his death from disease 31 May 1863. Nancy and children remained in Barbour. Martin V. Capps was a member of Co. E., 25th Ga Inf Regt. and a member of the House of Representatives of Ala. 1898-9. W.J. Capps obtained his education in the schools of Abbeville, Henry county, Ala. and Blackfoot, Idaho, and attended the S.E. Ala. Agr. School at Abbeville. he was once Justice of the Peace. He is a Democrat; a Missionary Baptist; a Mason; and a W. of W. He married, near Clopton, Henry county, Ala. Jan 21, 1904, Hettie Davis, the daughter of James M. and Julia (Lewis) Davis of Henry county, Ala.
