Source: Alabama Official and Statistical Register, 1911, page 102 Legislative Department, Bullock County EUGENE MEALING PRUETT, of Midway, Bullock county, Ala. was born in Muscogee county, near Columbus, Ga., June 28, 1847. He is the son of Alvin Hamilton and Frances Elizabeth (Mealing) Pruett, the former born in Harris county, the latter in Muscogee county, Ga. He was a grandson of Jacob Henry and Elizabeth (Knight) Pruett, and William Mealing and wife of Muscogee county, Ga. M.E. Pruett was educated in the schools of Midway, taking a business course in Baltimore in 1869; is a farmer and county surveyor; was in the cavalry service of the Confederate States, in Co F. 6th Ala Cav. in 1864-5. He is a Democrat; a Baptist; a Mason; Woodman of the World; and K. of H. He was married at Midway, Ala. June 9 , 1870 to Caroline Pipkin, daughter of Haywood and Eliza (Cameron) Pipkin of Midway, Ala. Haywood Pipkin represented Barbour county in the legislature just after the War of Succession.
